Some developers who were responsible for League of Legends at Riot Games and have even worked on Defense of the Ancients, the mod for Warcraft 3, are set to release a new MOBA soon: Fangs. But first, a beta is coming, and MeinMMO will tell you what the new game aims to do differently than its predecessors and how you can participate in the beta.
What kind of game is this? The new game is called “Fangs.” It is a multiplayer game in the style of MOBAs like DotA or LoL and will be released as a free-to-play title.
Anyone who thinks that Fangs is just going to be a LoL clone is mistaken. The developers have come up with some unique features – Fangs aims to offer its own identity and player experience that is clearly different from its popular predecessors.
League of Legends is so successful that it is now getting its own novel after its series:
MOBA reimagined – only 3vs3 and significantly smaller maps
To stand out from the competition, the developers have reinterpreted the principles of a MOBA: In Fangs, 2 teams of 3 players each compete against each other. Not only is the number of players different from LoL or DotA, but the size of the maps differs significantly as well.
In Fangs, the maps are significantly smaller than those of the major predecessors, there are no lanes and no jungle. The maps of Fangs are like small arenas, promising intense battles. Compared to MOBAs like DotA or LoL, the new game is designed to play much faster and offer more action.
Here you can get a first look at the gameplay of Fangs:
When does the beta start? The open beta for Fangs is scheduled to start on October 5, 2022, and will be available simultaneously in Europe, North and South America. Participation in the beta is completely free for you, and anyone who wants to join is welcome. You only need to fill out a small questionnaire on the website of Hidden Leaf Games, the studio behind Fangs, (via hiddenleafgames.com). After you have completed the questionnaire, you will receive a beta key that you can redeem on Steam.
Who are the minds behind Fangs?
The studio Hidden Leaf Games is responsible for the development of Fangs. Many veterans from the gaming industry work there, who have already contributed to titles like League of Legends, PUBG, VALORANT, and Teamfight Tactics. At the time of the first announcement of Fangs, the studio had already secured funding of 3.2 million euros through crowdfunding.
Responsible for character design is Steve Feak, who is known among LoL veterans under his alias Guinsoo. He was responsible for the design of many champions for League of Legends and was immortalized in the game through items like “Guinsoo’s Rageblade“.
Now it’s your opinion that matters! What do you think of the concept of Fangs? Will you take a look at the beta? Feel free to leave us a comment.
