“Fashion is the true endgame” is a saying that has become a running gag in many MMOs. Players grind, raid, and farm to afford new cool outfits.
However, there is often a problem: These outfits are often nowhere near as good as the armor from the latest patch. And at this point, the “Transmog” system comes to the aid of the fashion divas among us.
The option to change the appearance of your gear as desired has existed for a long time and is not exclusive to MMOs. However, it became widely known through WoW.
Such systems, which focus on the look of outfits, are referred to by many gamers as “Transmog”, even if they go by different names in other MMOs, such as “Glamour” in Final Fantasy XIV or “Transmutation” in Guild Wars 2.
But even if they have different names, their goal is the same: They ensure that players look stylish and can customize their outfits as they wish. And this is independent of gameplay values. But how much do players really care about it?
