In the action RPG Genshin Impact, you need original resin for many activities, otherwise you won’t receive any loot. We at MeinMMO explain to you how to obtain original resin and what fragile resin is about.
You face an opponent to farm materials, experience points, and level books – To receive the rewards, the game requires a certain amount of original resin from you. Your options for daily farming are thus limited.
But how exactly does the resin system work in Genshin Impact and what types of resin are there?
Original Resin – The energy source for almost everything
What is original resin? Original resin is a currency that functions as an energy source in Genshin Impact. It is displayed at the top right of the screen. One unit of original resin regenerates every 8 minutes, and a total of 160 can be generated.
This is how you can use original resin: Every time you kill a world boss or a hypostasis, or complete a sphere, you have to spend original resin – At least if you want to collect your reward. An exception are spheres that you pass through for the story, which do not cost resin.
Spheres and blossoms of revelation cost you 20x original resin, hypostases and bosses cost 40, special bosses 30-60.

If you want to save time, you can also enrich the original resin. We explain how that works here. When you use enriched resin, you receive double the reward from spheres and blossoms, but this does not work for bosses and hypostases. There you have to revert to the original resin or replenish it with fragile resin.
Fragile Resin – Refills your energy
If your original resin is used up, you can kill opponents, but can no longer collect rewards. Unless you have fragile resin on hand to refill your energy.
Click on the plus sign next to your resin display at the top right of the screen to refill your original resin with fragile resin. 1x fragile resin refills 60x original resin.
Important to note: There is also the possibility to obtain 60x original resin by using 50 primogems. We advise against this, as you need your primogems for the gacha system in Genshin Impact, and, especially as a free-to-play player, you can’t have enough of them, so it wouldn’t be worth it for resin.
How do I get fragile resin?
- Every time you level up in adventure rank, you can pick up rewards from the adventure guild. This way, you receive fragile resin starting from level 20.
- On your birthday, the game gives you some.
- In the Battle Pass.
- If you offer the Sacred Sakura Electro Sigils from adventure rank 30, she will give you fragile resin every few levels.
- In the real money shop, you can buy packages that contain the resin.
