Often one of the first questions is: “How do I quickly earn a lot of gold?” in MMORPGs. In The Elder Scrolls Online it’s no different. There are many ways to acquire gold, but which is the best way? MeinMMO shows you how to effectively earn a lot of gold.
Do Crafting Dailies Every Day
This is pretty much the easiest method to earn gold in ESO. If you are just a newcomer, it takes a while to gather some materials. But at some point, that won’t be your concern anymore. And then the crafting quests can be completed very quickly.
Where do I do the daily crafting quests? I recommend the city of Leyawiin in Blackwood for this. All crafting stations are located in one spot there. Only the stable is further away. However, if you already have your mount at maximum level, then this city is perfect for you.
For all the materials, ESO+ is recommended. The subscription includes a crafting bag where you can store unlimited materials. In principle, you don’t have to do this to receive the gold. However, in the long run, a lot of it accumulates, and the material is not without value either.
Moreover, your received gold is increased by 10% if you have an ESO+ subscription. So if you intend to play this MMORPG in the long term, it might be worth it for you.
Dig Up Valuable Items from the Antiquity System
You can receive traces of an epic item when digging in each region, which you can sell to a vendor for 10,000 gold. However, this can only happen once. But if you want to level up your skill lines in the antiquity system anyway, this is a good opportunity.
Not only because of the extra gold, but also due to the increased experience you gain from an epic versus a superior trace. If you have not unlocked the Antiquity System, there’s a guide in the following paragraphs.
This is how the Antiquity System works: You can unlock the two skill lines in the Antiquarian Circle in Solitude (western Skyrim). There, you need to accept and complete the quest The Antiquarian Circle from Verita Numida.

The quest will also explain how spying and excavation work, similar to a tutorial. Once you reach level 5 in both skill lines, you can spy and excavate epic traces. Then you should cover all areas and collect your extra gold.
You can find more details about the Antiquity System and how it works here.
Farm Raids
For the experienced players among you, in veteran raids, you can find items that you can sell to a vendor for a lot of gold. But be careful! For this method to be worthwhile, you should get through the raids relatively quickly, safely, and with few deaths. Otherwise, the effort for buff food, potions, and so on is not worth it.
These are the items:
- A raid-unspecific epic item:
- Unyielding Spoils: You will receive this item multiple times in veteran raids, with and without hard mode. You can then sell it for a whopping 1,000 gold at the vendor.
- A raid-specific legendary item: These items are available for completing in veteran mode with hard mode. You can sell it for 10,000 gold at the vendor, e.g.:
- Rid-Thar’s Moon Pearls (vMoL HM)
Ideally, choose an older and thus easier raid. With very strong groups, you can also orient yourself to the duration of the raids. vAS+2 (Sanctorium with hard mode) for example can be completed very quickly.
Trade in Guild Stores
Trading various items in guild stores can be very profitable. However, this requires the player to deal with trade statistics. Starting capital can be helpful, but it is not strictly necessary. After all, everyone starts with a small amount.
First, look for a trading guild. In the guild search (G), you can specifically look for guilds that focus on trading. However, note that most guilds have a minimum turnover requirement. If this is not met, a donation to the guild bank is usually required.
This minimum turnover is often dependent on where the associated guild trader is located. Guild leaders bid each week for the traders. Therefore, guild traders in the capitals are in demand and thus significantly more expensive. This is often only feasible if players achieve a certain amount of gold.
However, if you are just starting with trading in ESO, it is therefore recommended to join a guild without a required minimum turnover.
But what do I offer for sale? This depends on your focus in the game. However, materials of all kinds are generally always in demand. For example, you can sell enhancers or recipes that you get from crafting dailies or when refining raw materials.
There are several add-ons for price statistics that can assist you. But since these add-ons process a lot of data, your performance may suffer. So only activate them when you need them. I would deactivate them briefly in dungeons or raids. Here’s a list of add-ons for trading:
PvP Activities
If you spend a lot of time in PvP, you can relatively easily earn gold. With the alliance points (from Cyrodiil) or the Tel’Va Stones (from the Imperial City), you can acquire items or materials that sell well in guild stores.
Popular are alchemy materials or alliance potions. You can sell these for good gold in the guild store.
The advantage is that you earn gold almost on the side. Without specifically farming resources.
Sell New Crafting Styles from Dungeons or Areas
Especially when a crafting style is relatively new, it can be sold for high amounts in the guild store. But similar to farm raids, you always have to keep an eye on the cost-benefit ratio. If you find a dungeon rather tedious to complete, maybe that’s not the right way for you to earn gold.
Farming DLC dungeons I would rather suggest to veterans and experienced players. In contrast, styles from daily area quests are also easy to access for inexperienced players.
Daily Zone Quests
The daily zone quests also have the advantage that you might get a crafting style. Occasionally, housing recipes, which are very sought after, also drop. With a bit of luck, a rare recipe that you can sell for a high price is also included.
You can only accept one quest from each quest giver with each character. However, there are also additional daily quests that you can get shared from other players. This way, you can complete multiple zone quests on the same day.
This add-on helps you keep track of your characters across accounts: WPamA (What Pledges at my Alts)
Maybe you also ask other players if they want to join you. This way, everyone benefits from each other. Also, it’s usually much more fun together.
Correctly Allocate Green Champion Points (Skill)
You can increase your received gold by correctly selecting your champion points in the green tree (Skill). For this, you need to spend 50 points in “Golden Fingers”. This increases your received gold per level by 2%. Additionally, spending another 50 points in “Luck’s Favor” is worthwhile. This increases the gold you find in chests and valuable containers by 10%.
Furthermore, the following active champion points can also be beneficial:
- Meticulous Disassembly: Increases your chance of retrieving woodworking, blacksmithing, tailoring & jewelry materials when deconstructing items and obtaining stronger enhancers from raw materials.
- Treasure Hunter: Increases the quality of the items you find in chests.
When you collect your loot reports, you should definitely have the following champion point equipped:
- Abundant Yield: You have a 10% chance per level to receive double yield from regular resource nodes.
These champion points are also helpful as they increase your speed when gathering resources:
- Master Gatherer: Reduces the time it takes you to harvest per level by 10%.
- Steed’s Blessing: Increases your movement speed outside of combat by 0.4% per level.
- Windwalker: Speed: Increases your movement speed by 2% per level (Red champion point tree: Might)
When you complete daily zone quests, you can activate the following champion point:
- Craftsman: You have a 10% chance to receive a 2nd furnishing plan when you find a furnishing plan.
Remember that you need to equip active champion points. Otherwise, they are inactive.
Gold is not the only important currency in ESO. Important for your gear are especially transmutation crystals. What exactly this is and how quickly you can fill your inventory with them, you can find out in this article: ESO: Guide to Farming Transmutation Crystals.
