The developers of Far Cry: New Dawn have commented on Twitter about the changes in gameplay mechanics. We will tell you what is different in the latest Far Cry installment.
In December, Ubisoft announced their latest Far Cry installment. In New Dawn, you dive into a post-apocalyptic world and experience adventures in Hope County. The location is the same as in Far Cry 5, only the world is completely new.
On Twitter, the developer Sebastien Decant answered the question of how gameplay mechanics change in New Dawn. He provides some interesting insights into the latest installment of the saga.
Far Cry: New Dawn receives weapon ranks
This is what the developer says: “We have pushed the so-called “Light RPG” approach in the game to create more depth,” Decant says. “This way you can craft weapons that have ranks, and these ranks will be useful for fighting against enemies that also have ranks. We have implemented the brand new Prosperity home base where you can collect your characters and improve them with upgrades.”
What could this mean? Weapon ranks could become interesting in the meta of New Dawn. Certain weapons could be effective against one enemy rank while others might be more effective against another rank. However, this is purely speculation at this point.
This is new about outposts: Additionally, New Dawn features a completely new escalation system for outposts. With this system, you can decide whether you want to capture and hold an outpost or just loot it.
If you only want to loot the outpost, then the outpost will remain empty afterward, and your enemies will return stronger and with better defenses at some point. This presents new challenges, and you can loot the outpost again.
What could this mean? It remains to be seen what impact this escalation system will have. Why should I not just capture an outpost directly but only loot it? Perhaps my squad will lose strength at another location because I have to split them up over multiple outposts.
However, this remains speculation for now, and we have to wait for further information from the developers or the release on February 15.
