A new Far Cry installment has been announced with a teaser, which will show more at the Game Awards 2018. Players have their own ideas and wishes about what they would like to see in the next part of the series.
Unexpectedly comes often: Ubisoft has announced the next game in the Far Cry series with a small teaser. The game, which is set in a post-apocalyptic world, is supposed to be officially introduced at the Game Awards 2018.
Fans seem pleased with the new title, especially the setting, which seemingly takes place after Far Cry 5, is well received. Players have already shared their theories and wishes about what the apocalypse should include.
Spoiler warning: In this article, we will also discuss the ending of Far Cry 5. If you plan to play the title, you should not continue reading!

Teaser suggests a post-apocalyptic Far Cry
This is shown by the teaser: The short video depicts a farm that could be located in Hope County, the setting of Far Cry 5. While a voice speaks about how no one was prepared for the end, a mushroom cloud rises.
The narrator mentions that the flames had consumed everything and that death rolled through the Valley. The world turned dark and cold. But eventually, the rain and the wind ceased and a new world blossomed.
Humanity felt hope again, according to the narrator. But this hope was misguided.
It seems that the new installment in the series will pick up right after an ending of Far Cry 5. The fifth installment had three endings, one of which ended in a nuclear war.
What the community says
Currently, players are still debating whether the new title is a spinoff the size of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon or a true “Far Cry 6”.
However, players are looking forward to a post-apocalyptic spinoff. A user on Reddit predicted this even months ago, but no one believed him back then.
Back to Hope County: While not everyone was satisfied with the endings of Far Cry 5, others are pleased that the story picks up from the nuclear ending. Some even feel reconciled with the ending if Ubisoft would pick up directly from Far Cry 5 with the new title.
Some players are looking forward to seeing the “Father” again and learning what happened to the Deputy. The actor Greg Bryk, who plays the character, already hinted in August that the story surrounding the “Father” Joseph Seed is not yet finished.

Some see the mention of the “Valleys” in the teaser as a hint that it could return to Holland Valley, one of the regions of Far Cry 5.
Competition with Fallout 76: Some players draw parallels to Fallout 76 and tease that Ubisoft might be making the better Fallout game. Some even refer to the new Far Cry spinoff as “Fall Cry,” a mix of Fallout and Far Cry.
Criticism of Sequel: However, there is also criticism of the supposed successor to Far Cry 5. Some Reddit users believe that Ubisoft removed the ability to continue playing after the ending of Far Cry 5 from the game. Now they are trying to sell this option as a sequel. One of the major criticisms of Far Cry 5 was that there was hardly anything to do after the ending of the game.

On YouTube, there are some voices expressing a preference for a completely new Far Cry with a different setting.
Moreover, some players are wondering why a new Far Cry title is already being announced. Far Cry 5 was only released on March 27, 2018. The games in the series have not been released annually so far.
What do you wish for from the next Far Cry? Do you want to go back to Hope County or should the next title take place in a completely different location?
