The shovel in Far Cry 5 is one of the players’ favorite weapons. Ubisoft now acknowledges this and is introducing a shovel launcher in the game with a new live event.
What’s the deal with the shovel? Since the release of Far Cry 5, players have celebrated the shovel. Once it was discovered that melee weapons could also be used as projectiles in Far Cry 5, players became obsessed. They set challenges online, facing hordes of enemies armed only with shovels or baseball bats.
“Fired” the projectile is used like any other weapon as well: With the controller, aim with LT/L2, and with RT/R2, melee weapons suddenly become ranged weapons.
Players are particularly taken with the shovel. It can be thrown far and can even impale enemies. As up to nine shovels can be carried, which can be picked up again after use, this gardening tool is a terrifying weapon.
Ubisoft introduces meme weapon into the game
Ubisoft seems to have noticed the popularity of shovels in Far Cry 5. With this week’s live event, a new weapon has been introduced that is apparently heavily inspired by some community memes: a shovel launcher!
How to get the weapon: As in every week, you need to register for participation in the weekly event in the live events menu. To get the shovel launcher this week, you must kill ten of Jacob Seed’s judges or other wolves with the bow and collect their collars.
If the community manages to take down 500,000 wolves together, the outfit of Jacob’s hunters is also at stake.
New update brings bug fixes and all sorts of wacky stuff
A new update for Far Cry 5 was also recently released. The update fixes some annoying bugs, such as the loop bug or issues with NPCs that do not behave as they are supposed to in quests.
The bug was fixed where Mary May does not sit in the car when pursuing John Seed if the player has already failed the mission. Additionally, weapon balance has been adjusted. You can find the patch notes in the official Ubisoft forum.
Furthermore, special outfits have been added. Male characters can don the outfits of John Seed or Sheriff Whitehorse, while the female deputy has the option to choose between the clothing of Mary May and Grace.
Additionally, there is a whole range of wacky masks that bring a bit of fun to the fictional Hope County. Who hasn’t wanted to fight a fanatic cult while dressed as a leprechaun or unicorn?
