With the microtransactions in Far Cry 5, you should save time or get cosmetic items. Relief for the fans who have had enough of loot box chances.
A part of the gaming community has been looking forward to the new title in the Far Cry series for a long time. Far Cry 5 will be released by Ubisoft later this month, on March 27.
In the game, you must prove yourself as a sheriff against a fanatic cult that wants to take over the town. You can expect features like a coop mode where you and a friend can solve all missions together. Also featuring is the loyal canine “Boomer”.
Anyone concerned that Far Cry 5 supports loot boxes can now breathe a sigh of relief. There won’t be any.
There will be cosmetic items
A spokesperson for Ubisoft confirmed that Far Cry 5 will not have loot boxes or similar systems with “chances” for items related to microtransactions. The game features a Season Pass, but does without the loot crates that are not well received in parts of the community.
However, you can pay for cosmetic changes or “time-savers” in Far Cry 5. During the last demo available at a game event, the in-game shop was offline. Therefore, it is unclear what the items will cost or what they will change in the game.
It is likely about skins for weapons or vehicles, as well as different outfits for the characters in the game. Additionally, according to PCGamer, some (possibly even all) cosmetic items will be payable with a currency that can be found in the game. These are silver bars.
As a screenshot shows, silver bars can be found at every outpost and other locations in Hope County.
However, information about the silver bars is scarce. It is unclear whether you can find an unlimited amount of this currency in the game or if the bars are limited. In previous entries in the series, you could reset outposts and loot them again. This would be one way to farm a lot of silver bars. However, there might also be a limitation.
Far Cry 5 will be released on March 27, 2018, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Unfortunately, it won’t have the coop mode we’re wishing for.
