In a week you can play Dragon Age: The Veilguard. The new role-playing game from BioWare is already exciting fans, even though many cannot download it in advance. Players are making plans on how to bridge the time between download and play – and what the first gaming night will look like.
When will Dragon Age: The Veilguard be released?
- The official release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is on October 31 for PC, PS5, and Xbox. The game will be playable from 5:00 PM German time.
- While you can already download the roughly 90 GB on console in advance, there is no option for preload on PC. However, the developers have opted out of Denuvo.
- Initial testers have already had a glimpse of the game. The Head of Editorial at Webedia, Rae Grimm, says: “The Veilguard is everything I have ever loved about BioWare.“
How players plan for the release: There is currently a lot of excitement on Reddit about the upcoming release. Some fans have not even realized that it is already next week, having waited 10 years for the new installment.
In one of the larger threads, users discuss what their release night will be like. The problem, especially for PC fans: They have to download the 90 GB that evening.
Many therefore plan to start the download and quickly do some house chores in the meantime – or wash their hair. User slolly01 has even drafted a complete schedule:
“[The release] is fully planned. The game comes out at noon my time. I have Thursday and Friday off.
- wake up at 10 AM
- do the minimum of household chores (mainly feed the cats)
- take a shower
- go outside (if it’s not raining) until 11:55 AM, because I know I won’t see the sun for a while after that
- come back and start the download
- eat something, watch YouTube videos, and (unsuccessfully) try to pass the time
- play Veilguard as soon as possible
- order food and drink coffee at night to try to survive the night in case I feel like it
Halloween is a side issue for me this year and I don’t care. Sounds like the perfect day to me.”
Another user says he is actually on vacation at that time. However, since his partner is getting a tattoo that day, he will have all day to game in the hotel room. Many, however, have to work and say they can only participate in the fun later.
Quickly play through Dragon Age before Veilguard – Is it worth it?
Many fans are already preparing for the release by gaming through the previous titles at high speed. They want to recall what has happened so far and, above all, create their own world.
The world state has been an important feature in Dragon Age since the first part. Broadly speaking, you have been building your own world since Origins, and your decisions continue to impact the subsequent games.
In The Veilguard, however, that will no longer be the case. Instead of loading saves from the old games, you will build the state of the world during character creation from some decisions. Previous world states no longer matter.
At least regarding the extremely extensive story of Dragon Age, it is certainly advisable to take a look at the three already released games. After all, role-playing games are often about the world and what happens there. However, you don’t need to know everything: How much Dragon Age do I need to know to understand The Veilguard?
