While the Worlds 2025 of League of Legends have come to an end, players are discussing an ability of the newly introduced champion. They see a mistake in the abilities, which LoL has already made twice.
Who is the new champion of LoL? On November 9, 2025, the finals of the LoL World Championships took place. During a break in the finals, the new champion Zaahen was treated to a trailer.
On the official website of League of Legends, the new champion has already been introduced. Zaahen has the following abilities:
- Cultivation of War (Passive): Zaahen’s attacks and abilities against enemy champions grant him increases of “Determination,” providing him additional attack damage per increase. When Zaahen is filled with “Determination,” he gains increased attack damage and can resurrect.
- The Glaive of the Dark (Q): Zaahen strikes twice with his next attack, dealing additional damage and healing himself. Zaahen can use this ability again to deal additional damage with his next attack and knock the target into the air.
- Brutal Return (W): Zaahen stabs in a direction, dealing damage to hit enemies and pulling them towards him.
- Golden Charge (E): Zaahen jumps to a location and attacks targets around him.
- Dark Redemption (R): Zaahen rises and stabs downwards, dealing damage to enemies and healing himself for a portion of the damage dealt.
Which ability is seen as a mistake? Zaahen’s passive ability, Cultivation of War, is the small thorn in the side of many players. With each hit and skill landed, Zaahen’s “Determination” increases. When he is filled with “Determination,” his damage increases, and he can resurrect if he dies.
Specifically, it’s about the resurrection, which has already caused balancing issues with previous champs.

Resurrection has not worked with two older champs
Which champs have not had a successful resurrection? Yorick is the first champion who had a resurrection before his rework and was generally very strong but was not played by anyone. The second champ is Aatrox, who had a similar ability to Zaahen at his release.
With damage dealt, Aatrox filled a bar and healed for as much health as the bar was full upon dying. Later, the resurrection was integrated into his ultimate and eventually completely removed from his abilities in 2019. A former lead developer of the champions has already announced early on that Aatrox was overpowered and that the removal of the resurrection was on his list for changes (dotesports.com).
Players wonder if a resurrection will work the third time
What do players say about the resurrection? In the Reddit post about the new champion, the passive ability is discussed. A player writes: “Surely a self-resurrection will work the third time, right folks?”. Under the comment, Yorick and Aatrox were mentioned and how both lost their resurrection because it was too unbalanced.
When do players predict a rework? Reddit user Arkatrasz (reddit.com) predicts that the ability that resurrects Zaahen will be changed or completely removed by next summer in 2026. Over 300 other players agree with him and have already posted initial ideas in the comments.
Why are the two current self-resurrections of LoL not a problem? The fact that there are currently two champs who possess a self-resurrection and are well-balanced has also been discussed.
The jungler Zac and midlaner Anivia are both able to return after their death, but both can be prevented from doing so. Zac splits into four small Zacs, which can eventually be defeated to stop the revive. Anivia encases herself in an ice egg, which can also be attacked by enemy champions to prevent the revive.
