Netflix recently released the new action movie Extraction 2. Some fans of Call of Duty: Warzone are reminded of the battle royale.
What kind of movie is this? Since June 16, 2023, the new action-packed Extraction 2 has been available on Netflix. Marvel’s Thor actor Chris Hemsworth fights against all odds and plays a presumed-dead mercenary who, along with his team, rescues a group of people.
The sequel to the comic adaptation runs for just over 2 hours and has received decent ratings – 7.2 on IMDb and 76% on Rotten Tomatoes.
A small discussion has also developed in the Call of Duty: Warzone subreddit. Comparisons are being drawn between the battle royale and the extraction mode DMZ.

What do Warzone viewers say about it? In a thread on Reddit, CoD fans discuss the movie and players who have seen it see many parallels to a match in CoD’s battle royale – especially to the DMZ mode (via Reddit.com).
For example, thread starter C4ptainchr0nic writes: ‘In many ways, there are similarities to DMZ.’ HartyFL agrees: ‘I kept thinking, this is live-action CoD.’
There are also exaggerated comparisons to gameplay. ARM7501 writes: ‘Extraction 2 is literally like a round of DMZ. Someone is surrounded by 100 guys throwing Molotovs, and you have to hit the bad guys (Tier 3 AI) about 10 times to kill them.’
The focus on the action of Extraction 2 is often praised. The film is said to be for uncompromising action fans who appreciate when fast-paced scenes take center stage and the story runs alongside it.
The most upvoted comment comes from wittiestphrase and sums it up: ‘The setup of the movie took 10 minutes, and the rest was essentially made up of two set pieces held together by the tape version of exposition.’
