Because they wanted features that they didn’t get, fans simply recreated their favorite MMORPG Tibia (PC) entirely in Minecraft. The game is called Project Tibia 3D and comes with a lot of content.
What kind of game is this? Tibia is an MMORPG from Germany that is almost exactly 25 years old. To this day, the game is loved and played by many people. During the Corona pandemic, it was able to significantly increase in player numbers.
Although it comes from Germany, Tibia is relatively unknown here. A large part of its player base can be found in Brazil, Poland, and Mexico (via Tibia).
Tibia is still played from a top-down perspective and, among other things due to its age, lacks many features that are common in today’s MMORPGs. To change this, fans simply built the entire game in Minecraft.
What can Project Tibia 3D do? The fan-built 3D Tibia launched on January 1, 2022, and can now be played by anyone who owns Minecraft. The fans focused on social interaction, guild formation, and monster hunting, as they themselves write.
They also worked on the balance of professions and various monsters, as well as integrated a new play-to-earn system, where you can earn more by playing more.
Project Tibia 3D is based on version 8.64 of Tibia, which is a somewhat older version of the MMORPG, but also brings features from newer updates, as well as content built by fans.
These features include:
- Fights where casting spells is also possible
- Creating and managing guilds
- Offline training, allowing you to improve while you are offline
- PvP and PvE events
- Housing and new features for house management
- Over 70 new quests
- 300 new monsters
- More than 400 new models and textures to make Minecraft look more like Tibia

This is how you can play the Minecraft MMORPG
How can you join? To participate in Project Tibia 3D, all you need is Minecraft version 1.11.2. You don’t need mods to play the MMORPG. With this guide, you’ll be in the game in just a few minutes:
- Open Minecraft version 1.11.2, select Multiplayer, and add a new server
- You can choose the server name as usual. The server address is as follows: pt3d.serverminecraft.net
- Server resource packs must be enabled to access the server
- Once in the game or on the server, you need to enter /register account password to create an account. Replace “account” with your account name and “password” with your password
- Then type /login account password and replace the variables again with your chosen data
- To create a new character, type /add charactername
- Finally, press F, select your character, and you can start exploring Project Tibia 3D
