Currently, a Kickstarter campaign is underway based on the license of Funcom’s The Secret World. The role-playing experts at Star Anvil want to release a tabletop adventure that builds on the popular MMORPG and continues the events there.
What is the status of the Kickstarter campaign? After just three hours, the minimum goal of 9,289 euros was reached. Currently (May 6, 2024, 12:01 PM), the tabletop RPG for The Secret World has 415 backers and more than 25,000 euros, and the campaign still has 19 days to go (via Kickstarter).
The campaign is backed by Star Anvil Studios, founded in 2017, which was already able to finance the core book for “The Secret World” RPG in 2022. At that time, they had set a minimum goal of 40,000 US dollars and raised an impressive 154,633 US dollars (via Kickstarter).

What can I expect if I support? While the core book from 2022 was based on the rules of the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, the new version is intended to use the universal system of Savage Worlds, which will affect the player experience and the lore.
According to the responsible parties at Star Anvil Studios, both adventures stand alone. Special backer rewards like the art book or the audio drama were already available in the previous campaign.
The new role-playing adventure for Savage Worlds is set to be 220 pages long and consist of eight chapters. With this adaptation, the operators want to build on the foundation of the Funcom MMORPG The Secret World and continue the events there. Joshua Doestch, who worked as an author on the online role-playing game, is assisting in this.

What was so great about The Secret World? The MMORPG by Funcom was released in July 2012 and, like many in the genre, faced various launch difficulties.
