It has been several months since the series premiered on Amazon for Fallout. Keen-eyed fans quickly discovered a hidden Easter egg that was very well-hidden. Now it turns out: It probably shouldn’t exist at all.
The first season of the Fallout series was really well done, which is largely due to the fact that it could draw on a rich universe. The first part of the video game series was released in 1997, and since then, the world has steadily grown and become more detailed. Read here what the creator of the first game thinks about the Amazon series.
It is therefore logical that the TV series would take advantage of this and incorporate numerous references to the games. However, director Jonathan Nolan gave his crew a directive: The series should closely adhere to the source material and faithfully depict the wasteland with all its details. But he didn’t want elements to be copied directly.
Not everyone on the team adhered to this. The department responsible for makeup and costumes reportedly disregarded this rule and incorporated an Easter egg that went unnoticed for a long time.
Rules are made to be broken
Which Easter egg is it? Michael Harvey, the head of the makeup crew for the series, told in a conversation with PC Gamer that the initially set rule was not always followed.
During filming, he and costume designer Amy Wescott had the opportunity to incorporate a character from the games – but they wanted it to go unnoticed. Thus, the weapons dealer Cricket from Fallout 4 found her way into the series.
However, under a different name; she is called Rink there. Visually, there are clear parallels that cannot be denied. Both characters even share a scar above the eye. Rink appears in episode 5 for only a few seconds.

The Easter egg seemed so well hidden that no one would ever find it. Not even Nolan, who was initially against such direct references, but did not recognize the allusion until the very end. However, Michael Harvey and Amy Wescott miscalculated the devotion of the hardcore fans of the video game original.
How was the Easter egg found? As so often, the secret was discovered by fans on Reddit. They shared comparative screenshots and agreed that the series clearly drew inspiration from the game. However, the fact that the two characters have different names was confusing and suggested that they are not the same character.
The fact that the similarity is not a coincidence, but rather intended by the creative minds behind the series, is confirmed by reports from Michael Harvey. His hopes that the Easter egg would remain hidden for a long time were dashed by the eagle-eyed loyal fans. Are you looking for more series similar to Fallout?
