In 7 vs. Wild, the Amazon season is already in full swing, but one thing is really annoying the viewers. However, the protests on social media likely won’t change this.
What is bothering the viewers? In the new season of 7 vs. Wild, the participants spend a lot of time together or in small groups, for instance when setting up camp or fetching water. This is intentional and part of the new rules: No one is allowed to be alone.
To experience what’s happening, the cuts frequently switch to different parts of the group. This clarifies the simultaneity, and one realizes: Part A is doing this, Part B is doing that. However, the viewers are now annoyed by the cuts between the scenes.

What’s up with the overlays? There is often an overlay with a kind of carousel displaying the portraits of the participants, which is shown when switching between the contestants’ views. There are also drone shots with overlays indicating where and roughly how far the contestants are from 7 vs. Wild.
Sometimes, there’s no overlay and instead a short black screen, which makes it seem like the cut was forgotten or that an advertisement was inserted here. For the viewers, it’s all too much.
What do the viewers say? On Reddit, viewers explain in several posts that there are far too many animations for the transitions. It seems that the producers don’t trust the audience to understand that there’s one group fetching water and one that is at the camp.
In response to a question from a Reddit user about what they think of the cuts and overlays, the viewers write:
- Acceptable-Elk-2221: “The cuts are bad because the location changes don’t make sense when the location isn’t really changing. The editors have partially understood this since the transitions are cut rather erratically, and not every transition is matched with the animation.”
- Chijima: “Yes, that’s completely pointless and way too often. They are all really moving around in one group.”
In another Reddit post, users have a similar view:
- lookzlike: “Incredibly annoying. The carousel every 30 seconds, an unnecessary terrain overview, or a brief black screen. Over the duration of the episode, that adds up to about 10 minutes of useless cuts.”
- Th4tIci: “I don’t get it either. Once, only the campsite was shown on the map.”
However, the viewers’ protests will likely hardly change anything. The episodes have probably all been edited by now, and the chances of making changes based on viewers’ opinions are rather slim.
