Many fans of WoW Classic are currently complaining about a few players in Wrath of the Lich King who are being annoying with their elitist behavior. The elite players only want the best of the best – and in the process, they miss out on the fun of the game.
This is the discussion: Since September 27, Wrath of the Lich King has been the new expansion of WoW Classic available to play. WotLK raises the level cap to 80 and brings numerous new features. In our special, you can read more about the contents of WotLK Classic.
Shortly after the release, all players have to struggle through the leveling areas and farm better gear in the new dungeons to participate in the endgame. However, a few take this endeavor perhaps a bit too seriously:
- Just a few hours after release, the first players were already at the new level cap of 80, in part only through exploits.
- Especially elite players demand almost impossible requirements from casuals – they kick them from dungeons if they are not wearing the best gear.
- Many fans are fed up with this. Thousands agree with a player on reddit who complains about such elite players.
The influx for WotLK Classic was enormous. We were on the first boat to Northrend:
In the corresponding post on reddit, the user Stuckatwork271 explains: “This is just a game, it’s really not that serious.” In his experience report, he describes how he encountered a player who thought the creator was not good enough.
A healer left the dungeon group because Stuckatwork271, as a tank, had fewer health points than he did. There followed a one-sided argument with numerous insults from the one who left the group, as the user explains.
In the end, the tank was able to complete the dungeon with a new healer, while the former group member continued to insult him cheerfully from Dalaran.
“Some search all day instead of just trying”
The discussion quickly picked up with over 1,100 comments, in which other players shared similar experiences. Such behavior is seen as completely ridiculous. User Barbz182 recounts:
I once saw a guy who spammed the Westfall chat for almost 2 hours looking for players level 21+ for the Deadmines. He rejected my level 19 warrior, so I found another group and completed the whole damn thing. When I came back out, he was still looking. His reason: with higher-level players it goes faster and he didn’t want to ‘carry’.
The comment receives a lot of agreement. Other users explain that there are players who would rather waste the whole day looking for an optimal group instead of trying with a suboptimal setup – and finishing earlier.
User ecountltd for example, tells that he was in Azjol-Nerub with a new tank. After a wipe due to a mistake, they got through without further problems: “I’m sure many others would have left or told the level 70 tank ‘Fuck you.’ But it worked out.”
The thread on reddit currently has over 3,200 upvotes and is one of the largest in the WoW Classic subreddit, highlighting that there is a person behind every player. One should therefore also behave humanely and not become insulting right away.
Especially in games like World of Warcraft, there are many people who, due to work schedules and other obligations like family, do not have the time to always be the best. However, not everyone has to have this expectation, as some players have already pointed out:
Players complain: Leveling in WotLK Classic is harder than expected – “How do people do it?”
