Minecraft started a vote that the community could participate in. According to fans, the popular YouTuber Dream allegedly manipulated the voting at Minecraft Live 2021. However, he denies the allegations and claims he just wanted to have some fun. He also has an alibi.
What vote is it about? In a show called “Minecraft Live”, Minecraft lets the community vote on which new mob should appear in the game. The voting took place on October 16, and “Allay” will be the new mob in Minecraft.
“Copper Golem” and “Glare” would have been the alternatives to Allay.
“Dream manipulated the voting again”
How it went in 2020: Minecraft already held a vote in 2020 on which mob should be included in the game. In 2020, three mobs were also offered as options.
Some content creators wrote tweets at the time to promote their favorites. Among those was Dream, who encouraged people to vote for a glow squid (via Twitter).
In the end, the squid won, and everyone agreed: Dream manipulated the voting; without his fans, the mob wouldn’t have appeared in Minecraft.
He was accused of choosing the dullest mob just to show that he could, because he is so big, or because the mob would supposedly help him in his speed runs.
Fake screenshot goes viral on TikTok
Why is Dream accused of manipulating the voting in 2021? A video has gone viral on TikTok, showing a supposed screenshot of a tweet that allegedly was written by Dream (via TikTok). In this screenshot, Dream urges people to vote for Allay.
Under the TikTok video, there are comments like:
- aqwarteee: “That’s why I don’t like Dream.”
- apersonthatdoesgmod: “Dream exploits his fame to get what he wants. Just because his 10-year-old fans treat him like a god.”
- fellgasterbutworse: “I wanted Allay, but that’s just wrong :(.”
However, this screenshot is fake. The Twitter user Pitbull created this image as a joke and just wanted Allay to win.
Pitbull later apologized in a tweet, but added that it had to be done (via Twitter).
Dream was banned from Twitter for 24 hours
Why was Dream banned? Due to the screenshot and concerns that Dream would actually influence the voting, an anti-Dream group was founded with the aim of mass reporting his Twitter account – successfully.
The YouTuber tweeted a day after the voting that he had been banned from Twitter for 24 hours and had remained silent during the voting, yet viral TikTok videos were circulating accusing him:
So he couldn’t exert any influence via Twitter on the votes during the event. Previously, Dream had repeatedly joked under posts that he would manipulate the voting and wanted to poke fun at himself (via Twitter). This happened after he had faced much criticism for his glow squid action in 2020.
Dream’s community jokes with him
This is the reaction from Dream’s community: The community is making jokes about the situation.
Dream is always blamed for everything because he is Dream. If someone else did the same as Dream, it wouldn’t matter because they aren’t named Dream.
The Twitter user kit created a suitable graphic that received many laughs:

Others replied with irony to Dream’s Twitter post:
- KarlJacobs_: “Alright buddy. Thanks for manipulating it [the vote] again. Dummy.”
- TommyInnit: “I don’t care, you’re evil.”
- aimsey: “You could delete every social media profile, move to another country, change your name, and you’d never be seen again, and people would still find a way to say you manipulated the vote.”
Some people probably realized that Dream was just joking and wanted to poke fun at himself. Others are upset with him because he announced he would manipulate the voting.
What do you think about the whole situation? Should people in Minecraft take it easier or can you understand their excitement? Feel free to write it in the comments.
