The development of the highly interesting MMORPG Chronicles of Elyria is dragging on. Now, however, supporters can choose countries for their kingdoms, with many being skeptical about whether the game will actually be released.
Which MMORPG is it about? We are talking about Chronicles of Elyria, the promising MMORPG where your hero eventually dies of old age and must therefore ensure offspring.
The highly ambitious project, where you can live your life freely in a huge fantasy world and even become a ruler, sounded fantastic. But then came bad news:
- The developers parted ways with Improable, whose Spatial-OS technology they wanted to use.
- Since no publisher could be found, many employees had to leave the studio.
- The pre-alpha was delayed further.
What is happening with Chronicles of Elyria in the meantime? A playable version is not yet in sight. However, the MMORPG currently lives as a sort of “browser game”. Fans are having fun in the official forum, discussing the lore, forming guilds, participating in events, and thinking about which hero they want to play.
Now the developers announced the start of the land claim phase. This allows everyone who is allowed to own land in the MMORPG to choose where they want to build their kingdom.
Players Claim Their Lands
How does this phase work? Players will see a map of the continent. The whole thing is set up like a small browser game. The map was created by cartographers of the game world. You will see the countries and the political circumstances so that you can decide which is the best place for your kingdom.
However, you also help shape how the world develops. By giving your realm and the special locations there names, such as mountain ranges or forests.
Each available land shows you, for example, how many resources are available there or what biomes it offers. You must consider this in your decision-making.
How is the land distributed? Depending on how much money you, as a supporter of Chronicles of Elyria, have spent, you will be able to choose your land first. The order is as follows:
- Kingdoms will be allocated from April 29 to May 5
- Duchies can be chosen between May 6 and May 12
- Counties can be selected between May 13 and May 19
- Settlements can be decided from May 20 to May 26
- All others can claim the remaining lands from May 27
Players do not need to worry about not getting territories, as the world is so huge that there should be room for everyone.
Why do players do this? Everyone naturally wants to have the “best” piece of land, which is strategically located and has many resources. Being a ruler plays a big role in the MMORPG.
Moreover, this gives players the opportunity to actively participate in shaping and developing the game world.
Fans Remain Hopeful, but Frustration is Widespread
How are players currently reacting to Chronicles of Elyria? The fans, many of whom are invested financially, are very active on the forum and are looking forward to finally grabbing their lands.
Tarvald says in the official forum: “I am incredibly excited. Now the time has come to breathe life into the world of Chronicles of Elyria. May everyone get what they want.”
However, some players are also feeling a bit frustrated because the development is not progressing quickly enough for them. Some suspect that Chronicles of Elyria may never be released.
Bloodreighn writes on Reddit: “5 million dollars raised but the game is no longer on Steam. Great that I spent money on a game I can’t play.”
Currently, fans are waiting for the playable pre-alpha of Chronicles of Elyria, which may be coming in the summer or fall.
