Data miners have found further clues in a new test version of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic that a cash shop for the MMORPG may be planned. This concerns some items that have emerged as well as an image.
What items are these? Blizzard deployed a new build for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic on the test servers. Data miners analyzed it and discovered three interesting items that strengthen the impression that a cash shop may be planned. The items are:
- “Warp Stalker” mount
- Toy: Dark Portal – Apparently a “skin” for the Hearthstone
- Toy: “Path of Illidan”, a variation of the Path of Flame
The items apparently originate from a planned Deluxe Edition for WoW: TBC Classic. Those who purchase this are supposed to receive the mount and the two toys as well.
The hints about a cash shop are intensifying
How do players come to the conclusion that these could be cash shop items? Just days ago, when the “Viridian Phase-Hunter” was discovered as a new mount in the data of WoW: TBC Classic, concerns arose that it could be an item that players can purchase through the cash shop. However, there was hope that it could be part of a Deluxe Edition.
Now a new image has emerged showing both the toys and the mounts “Viridian Phase-Hunter” and “Warp Stalker”. The images strongly resemble the design already found in the in-game shop of World of Warcraft and apparently show the contents of the Deluxe Edition. Also visible is an advertisement for 30 days of game time and another image that apparently represents a character boost.
This raises the question of how the “Phase-Hunter” and the other items will come into the game. It could be a promo item. However, a shop where Blizzard offers such items for the MMORPG is also likely.
Why are players opposing a cash shop? Some fans of WoW Classic want a gaming experience like before, when such shops with purchasable items played no role. They believe that a cash shop does not fit a classic experience of WoW (via wowhead).
A character boost to level 58 has already stirred the community. Since such a thing is already planned, the step to an item shop with mounts and toys would not be too far.
Now it remains to be seen what the hints found by data miners are really about. Blizzard has not yet commented on this and has not spoken about a potential cash shop for World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade Classic.
