The FIFA 21 ratings have sparked many discussions. Now a fan demands: “EA: Redo the FIFA 21 Ratings”. What is behind this?
This is what the fan demands: On the platform “Change.org” user David Mariyasin started a petition against the new FIFA 21 ratings. Under the motto “EA: Redo the FIFA 21 Ratings” the player wants to achieve a revision of the existing player ratings.
He writes: “[…] so many of them are so inaccurate that it almost looks like everyone got a downgrade and as if EA saw nothing from the 2019-20 season.” Now he wishes in his petition towards EA that “they review these ratings again and make a new assessment before people might not buy this game in the end.”
At the time of this article, the petition had gathered 1,282 votes within 4 days and targeted an initial goal of 1,500 votes. So, that’s not too many votes yet. In comparison: In FIFA 20, there was a petition to raise the rating of the legend Johan Cruyff to 98, after he had a 94 in FIFA 19. A total of 41,443 fans signed – without success, by the way. The Prime card remained at 94, only the Moments card landed at 96 – and thus one point higher than the previous year.
However, looking at the reaction to the ratings, it is conceivable that this year’s petition might receive a few more votes.
FIFA 21 Ratings Create Controversy
Here are the reactions: David Mariyasin is not the only one with his petition who is not convinced by the new ratings. There is much discussion about the ratings on social media – for example, there were criticisms of the ratings of FC Bayern, which were rated too low in the eyes of many fans. Readers here on MeinMMO also expressed criticism of the ratings. Two examples:
- Reader Alex wrote: “[…] The ratings for Bayern are really the biggest joke of the year. I only see FUT as a kind of fantasy league. The players and values have nothing to do with the real players. Then such illogical values are also bearable. […]”
- Reader Psycheater says: “I’ve already written it under the last FIFA 21 ratings articles; the values simply feel completely arbitrary.”
Some of the rated stars also commented on the ratings. For example, forward Romelu Lukaku scored 23 goals in 36 league matches this season and provided 2 assists. In the Europa League, he scored 7 goals in 6 matches. However, there was no FIFA upgrade for the forward rated at 85:
“Let’s be honest, EA is just messing with the ratings so that we players complain and give the game more publicity. I’m not playing this sh*t anymore. I know what I’m doing.
