A fan of the upcoming sci-fi epic Starfield calculated that you can buy a spaceship in the role-playing game for 25 sandwiches.
What kind of calculation is that? A Starfield fan named “Mr_Twiddles” shared on Reddit the observation that a “patty melt,” a sandwich with ground beef, melted cheese, and onions, is supposed to be worth 295 credits in Starfield.
Mr_Twiddles also added that he is concerned about the game’s economy due to the high sandwich prices, as you could already buy a spaceship for 64 patty melts.
But the attentive user “Matthew_Al-Wahid” pointed out in the comments that the calculation is not quite correct, as the player’s starting ship, The Frontier
, is cheaper.
As seen in Starfield’s gameplay deep dive from June 11, the Frontier has a value of 7,375 credits – exactly the value of 25 patty melts.
Of course, it should be considered that the stated values could refer to the selling price and not the purchase price – that is, the monetary value you would receive from selling the ship.
You would probably have to pay more when buying. It is also possible that you would receive less for selling sandwiches than you would pay yourself.
Is 7,375 credits a lot in Starfield? No, a spaceship for 7,275 credits is the absolute minimum, and 25 sandwiches are certainly not enough to build a space fleet, establish an empire, or buy large freighters.
