The gods of Zul’Aman are coming back. At least according to a YouTuber who has polished the old WoW trailer to a high shine.
Over the years, Blizzard has released numerous cinematics for World of Warcraft. Some of these were elaborate CGI animations, while others were “only” trailers with in-game graphics. Yet, in memories, most of these films have remained. The YouTuber IKedit has taken the old trailer “The Gods of Zul’Aman” from the Burning Crusade Patch 2.3 – that was in November 2007.
The trailer has been completely “remastered,” featuring new models, better animations, and enhanced effects. You can watch the finished end result here:
Especially the exchanged models make a big difference here. But also the different facial animations – like the elf we used for the cover image – capture the mood of the trailer much better than the original ever could.
Why is Zul’Aman so popular? Troll instances hold a particularly high value for many players, as they have been appearing since Classic (Zul’Farrak) time and time again. Additionally, the dungeons are associated with a lot of nostalgia and often presented only a smaller, local threat.
In contrast to the devastating might of the Burning Legion or the all-powerful Deathwing, the trolls were a threat that only became dangerous at one specific point in the world. Especially as a blood elf player, it felt like finally doing something “for the homeland” again.
In direct comparison with the original, the improvements stand out even more:
We have previously introduced the YouTube channel of IKedit. He also created the impressive “Extinction” cinematic for the impact of Sargeras’ sword.
