Countless fans have been waiting for what feels like ages for a successor to the already released in 2013 GTA 5. One of them apparently wants to see GTA 6 so badly that he even interrupts the German TV show “Schlag den Star” to ask about the game.
This is the “streaker”: A fan stormed onto the stage of the TV show “Schlag den Star” from the private broadcaster ProSieben and cheekily positioned himself between the host Elton and his guest, the it-girl Evelyn Burdecki.
After a brief introduction, he asked Elton straightforwardly: “I would like to know: Where the hell is GTA 6? I have been waiting for GTA 6 for 8 years now.”
The host insists that he cannot provide any information – after all, it is not up to him. The fan then explicitly demands: “You better make a statement. Scream once into the camera!”
Elton remains composed and replies in his usual dry manner: “Oh no, I don’t need that. I haven’t even finished [GTA] 5 yet.” The streaker is then escorted off the stage.
Why are so many waiting for GTA 6? The “Grand Theft Auto” series has been extremely popular for many years and the currently latest part, GTA 5, has been released since 2013. So fans have been waiting for a new installment for almost 8 years.
While the multiplayer mode GTA Online is constantly receiving updates and new events – such as new treasure hunts with stylish pirate outfits – a new part is still not in sight.
Moreover, GTA 5 has been repeatedly released on new platforms over the years. Originally released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 (and PC), the game was later made available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Similar to the role-playing game Skyrim, this frequent re-release has now become a meme in the community.
So, where is GTA 6 now?
For many months, there have been repeated leaks and supposed information about GTA 6 that have never proven true. In March 2020, a leak promised that GTA 6 would be announced – shortly thereafter, it was said that one would have to wait at least until 2023.
In early 2021, many fans assumed that the new GTA would be announced at the Super Bowl – which also did not happen. Recently, the streaming service Netflix caused great confusion with the sentence: “GTA 6 is coming soon.”
The hunt for the new installment of the series does not diminish and many fans seem to cling so tightly to the last straw that even inconspicuous leaks are repeatedly discussed. There is still no official information available.
Nevertheless, the community speculates on when GTA 6 will be released and even what it might be. One of the newer theories is: GTA 6 will have the popular Vice City as its setting.
