In Path of Exile 2 the frustration runs deep for many players. The new season is not well received and on Steam the reviews are recovering only slowly. However, the well-known ARPG expert Jessirocks has a completely different opinion.
Who is it about? The Austrian YouTuber Jessirocks has long been an expert on ARPGs like Diablo 4, Last Epoch, and most recently Path of Exile 2. On Twitch he has over 230,000 followers and on YouTube almost 40,000 subscribers. In his videos, he gives players valuable tips and tricks and addresses topics that concern the community. In his latest YouTube video, he draws a conclusion about the new season of Path of Exile 2, Dawn of the Hunt.

“It’s an awesome patch”
What is the expert’s conclusion? Jessirocks explains in his YouTube video that he started the new season of Path of Exile 2 only 3 days after everyone else. His impression is therefore not directly shaped by the bumpy start and the many patches that came in the first hours after the release. By the time of his review, the expert had spent about 30 hours in the new season.
The expert evaluates the game based on its state now, after all the patches. He concludes that many of the innovations that “Dawn of the Hunt” has brought are generally positive. Especially the new skills and companions stand out to him in a positive way. He also praises how the endgame has been improved and that they have now particularly addressed the weaknesses of the tower maps.
What bothers him are the weaknesses of the ARPG in terms of class balance and build variety. In his video, he explains that there are currently only a few good builds. The variety has seemingly regressed. The server and game performance is also worse than before.
Jessirocks also criticizes new features hidden behind in-game purchases regarding monetization. He finds a counter that tracks the time taken to complete a map particularly negative. This is only available through a purchase in the shop.
Despite the stated criticisms, Jessirocks draws a positive conclusion. According to him, the review bombing that Path of Exile 2 is currently experiencing on Steam is unjustified. The game has only 39% positive ratings among recent reviews there. He rates the current season 7 out of 10 points and states:
I find it a shame that the Druid and so on did not come. I would have wished for the patch to be significantly larger after 4 months. But what has come now, especially after it has mostly been fixed, is an awesome patch and it’s definitely worth checking out Path of Exile again.
