The new series about Fallout has been available on Amazon Prime since April 11th. The reviews are almost universally positive and highly rated. Bethesda’s head, Todd Howard, was asked about possible further projects – but apparently, there is nothing planned.
This is how the Fallout series is being received:
- The reviews for the Fallout series are extremely positive with 93% on Rotten Tomatoes and between 8 and 9 stars per episode on IMDb.
- Viewers particularly appreciate that the series tells a new, original story and doesn’t simply repeat the games. The production is by the creators of Westworld, who have already had good experiences with post-apocalyptic settings.

This is what the boss says now: In an interview with IGN, Bethesda’s head, Todd Howard, spoke about possible further projects. Bethesda holds the rights to the franchises of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls, as well as the new Starfield.
The Fallout series itself is almost certainly going to get a second season (via GameStar). However, we do not yet know when this will happen. Howard, however, gives a pretty clear rejection for further projects:
There is nothing in the works. Everyone asks me about Elder Scrolls, and I keep saying no […] This [the Fallout series] came from a: “We think things are coming together for something high quality.” It wasn’t forced. It was more like a natural relationship and “Hey, that sounds really cool.” Rather than: “We should make a series.”
However, Howard also emphasizes that he cannot see into the future. The Fallout series has at least been a lot of fun for him to produce.
“This is series content that I would show up for”
On Reddit, fans are discussing what an Elder Scrolls series might look like, and they are not taking it too seriously. One comment states: “I can hardly wait to see a 12-hour quadrilogy in which the protagonist only crafts iron daggers. This is series content that I would show up for.”
A bunch of ancient memes from the games are coming back, such as quicksaves when the guard insults you just before you incinerate the entire city as punishment. Hardly anyone sees real content for an Elder Scrolls series.
Another user explains that such a series would hardly work. Delivering a coherent summary for The Elder Scrolls is nearly impossible. Moreover, the motif of a fantasy world has already been frequently represented.
In contrast, Fallout has a unique story that can be well told. And a post-apocalyptic America is not something you see every day: “That’s pretty unique.” And since the Fallout games themselves have only explored parts of the world, there is still plenty of room for new stories.
