Some new bundles have come to the Atom shop of Fallout 76. However, they cost unusually much and more than most players are willing to pay. This does little to help the current mood in the community.
Which bundles are we talking about? The new bundles arrived along with the controversial Patch 11 for Fallout 76. They all thematically follow the style of the Free States faction. Specifically, on July 23:
- The Free States Adventurer Pack for 1800 atoms
- The Free States Revolutionary Pack for 2000 atoms
- The Free States Trailbreaker Pack for 2800 atoms
The Adventurer and Revolutionary bundles contain various skins for Power Armors, weapons, backpacks, the Pip-Boy, and more. The Trailbreaker bundle includes the other two as well as a golden flag of the Free States.
For the most expensive bundle, 2800 atoms must be paid. Anyone who has no atoms at all pays:
- €19.99 for 2000+400 atoms
- +€4.99 for 500 atoms
- =€24.98
What does the community say about the bundles?
This is how fans react: The price of nearly €25 (approximately $25 in US prices) bothers many players. Even fans who regard themselves as “whales” find it too expensive (Note: “whale” is a term for players who spend a lot of money on microtransactions).
Player Glorf12, who has made a name for himself in the community through his excessive play of Fallout 76 writes about this on reddit:
I have bought almost every bundle that has been released in the Atomic Shop since the launch. With the “Free States” bundle, I really draw the line. This is not fun. I want to play the game for a reward. Not just throw my wallet at you.
In another post, user Paladin1034 calls for to boycott the Atom Shop entirely and deny the developers revenue until the game has been “fixed”.
This is the problem at the moment: The mood in the community is rather heated after the many issues of Patch 11. Right after the patch, players demanded access to a test server so they can help with quality assurance.
Meanwhile, most fans find it really hard to like Fallout at all, even though they try to have fun. After all, Bethesda has already addressed the issues with the new hotfix. However, due to the new work on some of these issues, the anticipated barbecue event is being postponed:
