In the upcoming Fallout 76, you will be able to explore an alternative version of West Virginia either alone or with friends. As is typical for the series, there will be a huge game world. Bethesda has now revealed the name for the map and a special weapon.
Slowly but surely, we are approaching October, the month in which the B.E.T.A. of Fallout 76 is set to launch. Therefore, Bethesda is now dropping more and more tidbits that reveal small details.
Recently, they revealed on Twitter the official name of the map of Fallout 76, which will be called Appalachia. Apparently, instruments will turn into weapons there.

That’s why the map is called Appalachia
Where does the name come from? The name comes from the indigenous Appalachee tribe. Their territories primarily lay in a mountain range called the Appalachians. The economic and cultural areas around the mountain are also called Appalachia.
West Virginia, the U.S. state where Fallout 76 will take place, is located right in these mountains and is also called the “Mountain State.”
That’s why the people of West Virginia are excited about the new Fallout: Many hope for increased tourism due to the attention that Fallout 76 brings to West Virginia.
Real places, local legends, and stories will play a role in Fallout 76.
The Appalachia region is going to be quite large
As is typical for Bethesda, Fallout 76 will have quite a large game world. In the last installment, Fallout 4, there was a lot to explore in the Commonwealth. The Mojave Desert from New Vegas and the wasteland of Washington D.C. in Fallout 3 were also not particularly small.
How large will the map of Fallout 76 be? Fallout 76 is said to overshadow all others. Appalachia will be about four times larger than the Commonwealth of Fallout 4. At the same time, 24 players will be distributed across the map engaged in their activities. You can read the exact numbers here.

There will likely be crazy weapons in Appalachia
In addition to the map name, an interesting weapon was also introduced, the “Guitar-Sword.” Whether you can also play chords with it is not known.
This is what the guitar sword reveals to us:
- Weapons have a minimum level
- There is likely a condition bar that shows when the weapon needs to be repaired
- There will probably be light, medium, and heavy melee weapons again
Fallout is known for allowing players to play around with bizarre weapons. In Fallout 4, there was the Junk Jet, a crazy cannon that shoots trash.
Also on Twitter, Bethesda recently shared a picture of a Paddle-Ball, a type of tennis ball. However, this is not junk, but can be found under ammunition in the inventory. What weapon might use paddle balls as projectiles?

We will probably find out what bizarre weapons will be seen in Fallout 76 at the latest from the beta.
Also interesting: Fans gather every hint, painstakingly build a map.
