One of the largest role-playing communities in Fallout 76 has launched its own crime series. Other players can participate and must find out what happened to some missing people. The series consists of six one-hour videos and is broadcast live on Twitch.
What is this series? The series is called “Responders Appalachia” and is styled after detective series and noir films of the 80s. Some people have gone missing and players must find out what happened to them.
During this, they can question “NPCs” – who are played by members of the role-playing group. Hired actors for the game, so to speak. The goal is to draw the right conclusions to solve the case.
For example, it is possible for players to choose to embody a doctor in Fallout 76 or even play an entire group of police officers that protect the wasteland. They are always “in their role” in the game and not wandering around as players.
The whole thing runs on the PlayStation 4, which is why only PS4 players can participate. Anyone interested can sign up via the tweet from the official Fallout Five-0 channel.
The pilot episode already lasts over an hour and looks really high quality. Every week, another episode will be aired on the Twitch channel of Fallout Five-0 and will subsequently be available as VOD on YouTube. We have embedded the first episode here for you:
Who are the players? The “New Responders”, also known as Fallout Five-0, are one of the largest role-playing communities in Fallout 76. They frequently take on roles to help other players or experience exciting stories.
In a larger plot, for example, they played out a real faction war where a gang leader of the raiders went through an actual trial with judges and lawyers.
Their willingness to help even extends beyond the game. In May 2020, a well-known player of Fallout 76 lost his house in a severe fire. The players of Fallout Five-0 then raised money through a donation campaign to help their hero.
Fallout also gets its own series
Responders Appalachia is a fan series set in Fallout 76, but an official Fallout series is also currently in development. It was announced back in July 2020.
