The new patch for the online game Fallout 76 is here. However, the community is very upset that a lot of things were changed without the developers providing any corresponding notes.
The subreddit for Fallout 76 is heated with emotionally charged posts from players who are upset about the current patch for the online game.
Patch notes do not contain all the information
What happened? Bethesda released a new patch for Fallout 76 on December 4th. It was actually a very small update. But it contained more than expected. The patch notes do not reflect everything that the update brings.
There are a bunch of nerfs: Players are upset not only that Bethesda did not list all changes in the patch notes, but that these are also nerfs. These include:
- Fusion cores: Fusion core processors now only produce one fusion core per hour (previously 10). But two cores can easily burn up in an hour. Therefore, new cores must be continually produced.
- Stealth: Characters above level 50 deal even less PVE and PVP damage and enemies now have an aggro zone. If they leave this, they are immediately regenerated.
- Respawn: Mobs previously spawned when someone entered the area, regardless of whether others were there. Now it seems they only spawn when someone is near their spawn point.
There are plenty of secret changes
Bethesda has secretly changed all this: Currently, players are still compiling all the changes, which is not easy for such an extensive online game as Fallout 76. Therefore, new changes can keep appearing. However, there is already a list of some of the biggest changes to the game that Bethesda has not included in the patch notes:
- Ammunition production cap reduced (400 to 200)
- You now get ore instead of scrap at some extractors
- Lead in CAMP / workshop is not affected
- Fusion cores deplete faster
- Fusion cores are no longer restored upon re-logging into the game
- The amount / percentage by which EXP for high-level mobs is reduced
- Legendary spawns have been reduced and a previously unknown percentage of those that are legendary has also been reduced
- Plans are not as frequently rewards for events

- The legendary effect that governs HP now restores AP (still to be confirmed)
- The spawn rates for plans and mods have been reduced (confirmation is pending)
- Boss enemies still do not drop guaranteed items
- Super mutants and ghouls seem to possess either more health or higher damage reduction
- “Stranger in Numbers” and “Bird Bones Mutation” no longer allow running through the air (confirmation is pending)
- Bioluminescent fluid now weighs 1 pound each (Mothman quest items) (confirmation is pending)
- Grenade exploit removed
- “Search” exploit / glitch removed
- Cap stash exploit removed
- Some server hopping exploits have been removed (containers remain looted, but enemies/open loot still spawn)
Bethesda apologizes, fans remain angry
How does Bethesda respond? A representative of the company acknowledged on Reddit that some of the changes do not show up in the patch notes. He mentions that some extractors now actually produce more scrap than ore, and that the crafting of some items like ammunition and fusion cores takes longer. Bethesda apologizes for the confusion.
Why players are particularly upset: Especially the changes that have a really big impact on gameplay were omitted. That this was not discussed, upsets many players.
