Fallout 76 received a new update for PC on December 11. It fixes a certain bug in “Feeding the Hungry”, which all players actually thought was a feature. They aren’t happy that the “bug” is now gone.
This is what happened: In the patch for Fallout 76 from December 11, Bethesda fixed several bugs and improved features. This included adjustments to the C.A.M.P. and some quests and events.
The “Feeding the Hungry” event has been adjusted so that it no longer distributes stew cans to all players on the server. Fans are quite annoyed by this.
Less experience for everyone
What kind of event is this? The event “Feeding the Hungry” can be found west of Morgantown at Mama Dolce’s Canning Factory. For the event, you need to gather ingredients and protect three machines that then produce stew cans.
Even though the food is called “can”, it spoils. However, they have several advantages when consumed:
- they satisfy hunger
- they provide a decent healing boost
- they give +5% experience for an hour
Previously, there were 5 stew cans for every player on the server when the event was completed. Since the patch on December 11, this no longer happens on PC.
Players find this change bad: The reaction to this particular bug fix is mainly negative. A thread on reddit is circulating with currently 4,700 upvotes, calling for the “bug fix” to be reverted (as of December 12 at 2:50 AM).
There are ongoing reports about how helpful the Fallout 76 community is. The players really like to help others, as also shown in this thread.
Many fans thought that the mass feeding was actually a feature and that it was intended to help the whole server.
In another thread, the user ThisCocaineNinja sums up the feelings of many:
What the hell?! I thought this is a feature. It’s called “Feeding the Hungry”, not “Feeding three Hungry people.” Whenever I was near the airport and the event popped up, I stopped for a moment and helped everyone provide the server with that sweet 5% bonus XP.
Besides, you are really “feeding” the people who are starving. Damn, I wanted more multiplayer events like this. I never thought it could be a bug. It just seemed like a clever idea for an event.
The patch is currently only active on PC. PS4 and Xbox One are expected to follow on Thursday, November 13.

Not in the mood for events anymore? This is how players are having fun in the endgame of Fallout 76.
