Next week, Patch 6 for Fallout 76 will be released. This will increase the storage and bring further changes. Additionally, Bethesda has announced weekly updates with “Wild Appalachia”.
What’s included in the new update: As Bethesda announced in their “Inside the Vault” blog, the new Patch 6 will be released next week. A specific date has not yet been announced. Here are the biggest new features:
- The storage capacity will be increased from 600 to 800. This has been a long-standing request from fans since release. The storage has been increased before, but fans felt it was not enough.
- The M79 Grenade Launcher and the Automatic Grenade Launcher are now heavy weapons. Therefore, all perks for heavy weapons will also apply to these two. The “Big and Heavy” perk is excluded from this; instead, the “Demolition Expert” perk applies.
- You will no longer be searched when accidentally damaging another player’s camp. Instead, you must destroy the camp. However, they want to closely monitor fan feedback.
- In the game, you will now see more player symbols. Whether it’s through camps, turrets, or workshops.
- During the events “Feeding the Hungry” and “The Path to Enlightenment”, quest containers will only accept quest items.
Additionally, there will be some bug fixes and performance improvements.

“Wild Appalachia” brings weekly updates
What’s included: For the time after Patch 6, they have also announced weekly updates “Wild Appalachia”. These updates are supposed to include many PvE features.
As they have already announced the Survival Mode for March, they wanted to provide something for PvE fans as well. Many were already concerned that PvE content might not receive enough attention.
There have not yet been any details about the content, but Bethesda does state that the following will be included:
- new quests,
- events,
- challenges
- camp items
- and more crafting items
This could also mean new equipment. Fans will have to be patient for a bit longer, as they want to present a roadmap for “Wild Appalachia”.
How the community is reacting: After the mood has already improved thanks to a strike against item dupers, new PvE content is good news for many. In the Fallout 76 subreddit, many fans are excited.
Some are eagerly waiting for new PvE content and can hardly wait. Others have already given up on the game and are hardly impressed by the announcements.
