In Fallout 76, nuclear missiles are an endgame feature. The bombs are meant to give high-level players something to do. The first nukes have already dropped in the game and have shown what can happen in Fallout 76.
This is how the first bomb fell since release: YouTuber Nickaroo93, shortly after the release of Fallout 76, launched the first nuclear missile on West Virginia with some of his friends. The result was a map-wide raid.
Hard bosses and loot for everyone
What happened? Nickaroo93 obtained a complete launch code for one of the nuclear missiles found in Fallout 76. With this code, he blew up a location in West Virginia just hours after the release of Fallout 76.
The fact that he was able to complete a code with his friends so early might be due to the fact that progress from the beta was carried over into Fallout 76. The group’s levels speak for themselves:
- Nickaroo93 himself is level 53 in his video
- one of his friends is already above level 70
- most other participants are beyond level 40
This is what makes this nuke special: Already in the beta of Fallout 76, some players triggered a nuclear missile. The area was eventually populated by level 50 Protectrons and other creatures. Nickaroo’s missile summoned something even greater.
“Post-Apocalyptic Dragon” appears
A raid boss in the open world: The group chose one of the “tears” that can be found in the game as their target. Tears are dangerous areas where the strongest opponents of Fallout 76 reside, the Scorchbeasts.
Scorchbeasts are flying creatures that resemble grotesque bats and are the reason for the Burnt plague they spread. They are even stronger than the iconic Deathclaws. The Verge describes them as “post-apocalyptic dragons.”
After the nuclear missile strikes in the tear, the entire area is engulfed in radiation and a level 95 elite Scorchbeast Queen appears, along with the event “Burnt Land.”
This is essentially a raid in Fallout 76. Nickaroo93 recorded it all on video.
Intense fights but good loot: The battle against the Scorchbeast Queen lasted over 20 minutes and attracted many players who helped the group. In the end, around a dozen players in power armor were swarming around to kill the Queen.
The Scorchbeast Queen has cost several players their lives multiple times and sparked creative ideas. They even considered moving their C.A.M.P. to bombard her with turrets.
Ultimately, they managed to bring the Queen down multiple times and kill her there. The players were rewarded with Ultracite gear.
Ultracite is currently the strongest material in the game. However, they did not have peace afterward: more level 50 and above Scorchbeasts were waiting in the area to avenge the death of their Queen.
