The current patch for the online game Fallout 76 has caused a stir as it brings several issues. However, it also takes action against item duplication, which players welcome.
What is the problem? Item dupers make life difficult for players in Fallout 76. Using exploits, they create copies of very powerful weapons and then sell them, for example via eBay. This destroys the balance in the online game, as it allows more players to quickly defeat low-level players in PvP with these weapons. In addition, duplication ruins the in-game economy.

How is Bethesda now addressing this? With the latest patch, the developers reduce the carry weight of characters.
- The allowed carry weight must now not exceed 1,500 pounds over your regular carry weight.
- If your character has a carry weight of 210 pounds, it may carry a maximum of 1,710 pounds.
- It is not possible to exceed this new maximum limit.
- If you had already exceeded the current maximum weight before the update was applied, you must first clear your inventory before you can collect new items.
- It is also no longer possible to pick up caps when reaching the maximum carry weight.
- This new carry weight now makes it impossible for dupers to carry large amounts of duplicated items, which should annoy them significantly.
- Additionally, two exploits that allowed item duplication with a MODUS vendor and with blueprints have been fixed.
Players mostly welcome the change
How do players react to these changes? Aside from the fact that the patch is generally controversial, fans of Fallout 76 are very positive about Bethesda finally taking action against the dupers. However, how effective this will be remains to be seen, and the patch must first function correctly.
However, some players are disappointed that they can no longer carry as many items. The developers assure these fans that they will work on a solution in the future. Perhaps the size of the storage will be increased again. However, the rescue of the in-game economy has priority now.
