Bethesda has announced that Fallout 76 will be free to play this coming weekend, from May 14 to May 18. At the same time, there will be an event for double experience points. The perfect time for everyone to jump in.
Why is this weekend worthwhile? During the free weekend in Fallout 76, you can also test all the new content of the Wastelanders update for free.
The update itself has transformed Fallout 76 from the ground up and made it the game it should have been from the start.
Additionally, according to the community calendar, you will receive double experience points in Fallout 76 at the same time as the free weekend. So you have the opportunity to dive into Wastelanders and level up well to test many of the new features.
When can I play for free? The free weekend starts on Thursday, May 14 (today) at 6:00 PM German time and ends on Monday, May 18, also at 6:00 PM.
Checklist for the Free Weekend – These 7 Things You Should Do
What should I check out? If you are new to Fallout 76 and want to dip your toes in with the free weekend, the various contents might be a bit overwhelming. MyMMO Fallout expert Benedict Grothaus has prepared a checklist for you with things you should look at over the weekend:
- play the introductory quest from Duchess at the Wayward – it’s a one-time experience
- build your own camp or ask the architect Stomatome from the MyMMO community for help
- invite one of the new companions to your camp and get to know them – maybe something more will develop?
- explore at least the Forest and Ash Heap – these are really nice areas right at the start
- visit the Horror Hotel – but better not sleep there
- join other players and complete public events for great loot
- visit the Settlers and the Raiders and see the great NPCs that are now available
If you are quick, you can even complete the new questline from Wastelanders. However, at the end, you will have to choose one of the factions. If you are unsure whether Raiders or Settlers suit you, take the test here:
What else does Wastelanders offer? If you enjoyed the free weekend, Fallout 76 with Wastelanders has much more to offer. With a slightly higher level, you can face dangerous enemies like the new Wendigo Colossus or earn reputation with the factions for great rewards.
However, these are things that you, as a new player, won’t achieve in just four free days – unless you have active help from other players and play the whole weekend.
If you’d prefer to use the time to fall in love with the survival MMO, visit the four locations with the most beautiful views in Fallout 76. Maybe they will entice you to Appalachia.
