On the occasion of an important holiday in the history of the Fallout universe, the survival spin-off Fallout 76 is currently free to play. We at MeinMMO show you what the game is about and who should take a look.
What is Fallout 76? After a brief but intense nuclear war, the USA and possibly even the whole world lie in ruins. You are among the few survivors who managed to find safety in one of the protected vaults.
As some of the first to return to the surface, you are now tasked with cleaning up and rebuilding the USA – starting in Appalachia, West Virginia. This is where Fallout 76 begins, in which you slowly reclaim the nuclear wasteland.
The day the atomic bombs ultimately fell is October 23rd. This date is both a reminder and a holiday in the Fallout universe. With this date also approaching in our world, Fallout 76 is hosting a free week where you can try out the survival game for free.
How long is Fallout 76 free to play? The promotion started on October 19th and ends after a week on October 25th.
During this period, you can try out the entire scope of the game. If you purchase Fallout 76 afterwards, you can carry over your progress.

Survival MMO in the Fallout Universe
Who should take a look? Fallout 76 is particularly suitable for people who want to get into the survival genre. One of the reasons for this is the community. Most veterans will greet you warmly and help you get started.
Some may even provide you with gear. As in any game, there are people here who want to ruin the fun. Overall, however, you will mostly encounter helpful wastelanders.
Additionally, the PvP mechanics are hardly relevant, so enemies cannot “grief” or kill you if you don’t want them to. This makes exploration easier at least in terms of other players.
If you also love the Fallout universe, you will find enjoyment in Fallout 76. The game delivers the typical quirky humor and bizarre sci-fi weapons, armors, and mutants.
Thanks to the camp system, fans of their own housing can let loose, designing it according to their wishes. However, the camps are not limited to just shelters; you can also build all sorts of other things with them.
For instance, one player repeatedly built elaborate traps to take other players out. Restaurants and own vault bunkers are also possible with the camp system. You can easily pack the camps up and take them to other locations.
Even story fans will find something to enjoy. Fallout 76 takes place chronologically before the other Fallout parts, and you can experience, for example, how the famous Steel Brotherhood gained its reputation.
