After the delay of the highly anticipated Wastelanders update for Fallout 76, a test server will be available soon. Bethesda invites you to help in its development, but you need to hurry and have some luck.
How can I help? Bethesda plans to invite players to help in the development of the upcoming Wastelanders update for Fallout 76. This was originally delayed to improve it. You can register for the test on the official Fallout 76 website.
Registration is open until January 14, 2020, at 11:59 PM. Selected will be “a few hundred players”. It is not specified how exactly selection will occur, but Bethesda is looking for “as many active and experienced players as possible.”
The test server for Wastelanders will start on January 17. However, it is disconnected from the actual test server, which Fallout 76 is also supposed to receive. That will come a bit later and fulfills the community’s great wish to help.

What you need to pay attention to: There are some things to consider if you want to participate. Bethesda has created a small list with important information about the test:
- The Wastelanders test will only run on PC
- There is a confidentiality agreement, so you may not share any content or experiences.
- The Wastelanders version you play is in development and meant to find bugs and improve the update for release. Do not expect a finished version.
Your progress will be saved during the test, and aside from maintenance work, you can play at any time. Only some tests may require you to delete all progress (“wipes”). Progress will also not carry over to the finished update.
What can I test? The aim of the test is for you to share as much feedback and your opinion with the developers to improve Wastelanders. So far, Bethesda has not revealed what the test will include, but we already know some things about Wastelanders:
- There will be NPCs you can even fall in love with.
- The NPCs have different factions you can work for.
- There will be a new story or the old story will continue.
