The Deathclaw Island is one of the locations in Fallout 76 that gives little clues about what actually happened there. Where is it and what can you see there? Our little guide explains where to find the island and what to expect there.
Welcome to Deathclaw Island
The island lies on the largest river in Appalachia. At first glance, there is not much to see. It appears to be abandoned. But its name is not without reason.
Where is Deathclaw Island? This location is northwest of Vault 76. Follow the river north, and you should find it sooner or later.
The way there is not particularly dangerous; only a few ghouls and mini-bots will get in your way. The deathclaw there is level 21 and legendary, so it deals correspondingly high damage.
So make sure you are in a similar level range if you want to kill it.
Beware, the island is inhabited: It is not called Deathclaw Island for nothing. In the center of the small area is the nest of a deathclaw. It behaves calmly until you get too close to the nest.
As long as you keep a safe distance from the nest, you can explore the island in peace.
What else is there to discover? Not far from the nest, you come across the site of a picnic that probably went wrong. Here a couple wanted to have some peace and were possibly surprised by the deathclaw.
In one of the lunch boxes, you might find a recipe for a dish if you are lucky.
The inconspicuous island has probably attracted more than just picnickers. On the western side of the island, you can find a speedboat that has gotten stuck on the shore. There is a red loot box on the boat.
By the shore, there is a safe that requires lockpicking level 3 to open. Next to it, you can find shovels, bags, and human corpses. Whatever happened here, someone probably wanted to bury their treasures on the island. That certainly went horribly wrong.
Besides the picnic couple and the safe owners, there was probably also a fisherman who got too close to the island. He died still in his raft near the northern shore. What exactly happened is only a guess.
At this shore, there is a wooden frame with a bench. If you’re lucky, there might be a bobblehead there. It might also have fallen under the bench.
A good place for farming: As we mentioned in our guide to black titanium, Deathclaw Island is a good place for farming. The deathclaw is not too difficult to defeat.
If it doesn’t respawn quickly, you can search for a server where it is present by switching servers.
