Since the first season of Fallout 76 started, many players have looked at the new features. However, the update also brings problems. An age-old issue has resurfaced: Duper. However, they seem to be having a harder time.
What is this problem? Duper are players who exploit glitches in the game to duplicate equipment. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Ammunition (in the tens of thousands)
- legendary weapons and armor
- rare blueprints
They partially create some of the strongest weapons in the game that no longer exist, such as particularly powerful weapons with combinations of the affixes “Double Shot” and “Explosive”.
Why is this bad? Normally, players should be happy to receive strong weapons from others. However, in this case, it is a problem because the dupers disrupt the in-game economy.
Honest players can barely make a profit with their collected items by offering them in the vending machines because dupers have better items at lower prices.
As many strong weapons have been bound to the character since the Wastelanders update, the sale of strong weapons is not as severe, but it is still a problem.
Since the Update 20, which implemented the first season and “The Legendary Race”, there have been increasing reports from the community about dupers and tutorials on how to duplicate items and exploit glitches.
Readers here on MeinMMO have also pointed this out to us. However, it is hard to assess how big the problem actually is.
Duping glitches disappear – Are dupers having a harder time?
Here’s the good news: During our research, we came across numerous videos from YouTubers and tutorials from dupers explaining how to properly exploit the “duplication glitches.” We noticed three things:
- firstly, video creators often have to update their guides or upload new videos
- secondly, they note in each video that older glitches no longer work
- thirdly, the methods they find become increasingly complex and less efficient
Many videos already start out by claiming that a “new glitch” has been found and the old ones no longer work. The most recent glitch we know allows for the duplication of an item with many limitations, under complicated conditions, and with great risks. It requires at least two players to function at all.

It is hard to say how much it actually hinders the dupers, as some still use additional cheating software or similar. Nevertheless, the latest methods sound too complicated at first glance to be able to implement them on a large scale.
To avoid spreading the exploits, we will not embed any corresponding video here.
What is Bethesda doing about it? The fact that new glitches always have to be used already shows that old bugs are being fixed. During the last major incident, Bethesda reacted quickly and promptly locked the vending machines to prevent further abuse.
In this case, no game mechanics are restricted, at least as far as we know. However, there are reports from players about increasingly occurring bans (via Vault76.de).
The complaints about dupers are also decreasing. It seems that something is happening at least. Instead, players are talking about the new features of the first season and what can still be improved – for example about one of the best new content that will become even stronger in a coming update.
