Fallout 76 evokes extreme emotions among many fans on both sides, joy and sorrow. A particularly frustrated gamer has now vented his anger at a GameStop.
Nerd Rage at GameStop: In the state of North Carolina, a customer was apparently upset about GameStop’s return policy. The player wanted to return Fallout 76, but the manager denied the request.
In response, the outraged gamer completely wrecked the store. He knocked over shelves, threw items off the counter, and stomped on the games scattered on the floor. The complete video of the outburst is available on Facebook.
Is Fallout 76 the Reason for the Outburst?
Fallout Polarizes: Since the announcement of Fallout 76, the game has mostly experienced either extreme hate or extreme hype. There has been hardly any gray area between the two extremes for a long time.
It even went so far that fans rated Fallout 76 on Metacritic with only 0 points, a so-called “review bomb.” After the beta, it also frequently happened that players returned the game.
The player from North Carolina likely tried that as well. However, at GameStop, this was apparently not possible for corporate policy reasons, which likely led to the outburst.
Even though the video itself does not mention that it is about Fallout 76, there are reports that the game’s return was the trigger. The author mentions Fallout 76 as the reason in the description, and in a follow-up video showing the destruction, it says: “It seems someone really disliked Fallout 76.”
Gamers Laugh at the Vandal: Although Bethesda faces a lot of criticism, even when servers fail for technical reasons, the reaction to this outburst is largely directed against the vandal.
The video was also shared on reddit and fans discussed it. Most admired the remarkable calmness of the seller, but the troublemaker also got a lot of flak:
- “That’s the kind of person I imagine publishes the 0/10 ratings on Metacritic.”
- “What a child.”
- “It’s kind of ridiculous to freak out over $60.”
