At the end of January 2021, a long-awaited wish of the Fallout 76 community is set to be fulfilled. The stash box will receive an upgrade and two new categories will provide better organization in the Pip-Boy.
The improvements are currently on the test servers of Fallout 76 and are expected to be released for all players at the end of January.
What are the new features? At the release and in the B.E.T.A. of Fallout 76, players could store a maximum of 400 pounds in the stash box. In 2018, the limit was increased to 600, and in 2019 to 800. However, many players find this insufficient, and Bethesda has announced that it will raise the maximum limit to 1,200.
On the test server (PTS), the upcoming update was implemented on January 7, 2021, and includes not only the larger stash box but also two new categories for the Pip-Boy.
In the future, you will have access to two new tabs:
- Food/Drink
- Armor
Additionally, the total weight of item stacks will be displayed, allowing you to better assess how much weight you are carrying. You will also receive more information about player vending machines displayed on the map. Bethesda itself refers to the update as the “inventory update”.
What problems does the update address?
After Fallout 76 developed very well in 2020, the community hopes that 2021 will also be a good year for the MMO in the Fallout universe. Bethesda seems to listen to the community, and the new update strongly addresses community requests.
More space in the stash boxes: Those who collect a lot of loot or like to showcase legendary weapons quickly hit their limits with the stash box capacity. While scrapping items and crafting large quantities provides some relief, all players appreciate having more space.
Weight of stacks displayed clearly: Those carrying many items as stacks in their inventory currently only see the base weight displayed. This makes it unclear how much weight each stack actually has. With the new update, the total weight of each stack will also be shown in the future.
New tabs in the Pip-Boy: Food and drink are currently listed under “Aid” in the Pip-Boy. Those carrying a lot of food, drink, Stimpaks, and other aids can quickly lose track. Bethesda has also responded here and is adding a new tab labeled “Food/Drink” in the Pip-Boy. The same applies to armor, which will also receive its own category with the update at the end of January. Both tabs are intended to make the Pip-Boy more organized.
Fallout 76 is also on the right track in 2021
The upcoming update shows that Bethesda listens to the Fallout community and responds to their wishes. In 2020, a handicapped player wished for “a piece of themselves” in Fallout 76, and Bethesda fulfilled that wish.
It looks like 2021 will also be a good year for Fallout 76. With the increased stash box capacity, players can gather materials in Appalachia again to style their own C.A.M.P. If you need inspiration, check out our interview with the mayor of New Charleston.
