Since the release of Fallout 76 on November 14, many players have criticized the game and shared their feedback in forums. Developer Bethesda is now responding and releasing patches to address the major issues.
Patches in the near future: In a newsletter on Friday, November 16, 2018, Bethesda states that they will address the frequently mentioned issues after the release. A major patch is set to arrive on Monday, November 19.
Larger Storage, FOV Slider and Improvements in Fallout
The storage will be larger: Since the Beta of Fallout 76, there have been constant complaints from players that a storage space of 400 units in Fallout 76 is not sufficient. There is simply too much stuff to collect.
Earlier, Bethesda announced that the storage space should be increased. Now it’s becoming concrete. According to Bethesda, the storage will be increased “in the coming weeks”. This means, likely still this year.
However, it is still unknown how large it will become. The current size was set for technical reasons:
The current limit exists for technical reasons to limit the number of items that the game has to calculate in the world. We have short- and long-term ideas on how to tackle the size without compromising stability. But it will take time to do it right.
“Quality of Life” for the PC: Especially since the PC Beta of Fallout 76, PC players have complained that important options are missing. Some settings are not available which diminishes the gaming experience.
Particularly, settings for the field of view have been a major point of criticism for some time, even though there is a trick to adjust the FOV. In Fallout 76, several “QOL” changes for the PC should be arriving soon:
- Push-to-Talk: There will be an option for voice activation via a push button.
- Ultrawide Support: 21:9 screens will receive an official graphics setting.
- FOV Slider: The field of view can be manually adjusted via a slider.
These changes are expected to arrive “soon,” likely before the expansion of the storage. No specific date has been mentioned.
Major Performance Patch: On Monday, November 19, the first major patch for Fallout 76 will arrive. It is possible that this is the released Day-1 Patch. The patch is set to address a number of performance issues.
The patch aims to enhance stability and performance across all platforms. Bug fixes will also be included for:
- Quests
- Interface
- C.A.M.P.s
The patch notes will be released later. The upcoming patch is expected to be one of the largest ever for the game. All subsequent patches will be smaller.
