Fallout 76 will take place in West Virginia, but there is still no official map of the game area. However, that did not stop fans from creating their own map based on clues.
How did fans build the map? The E3 trailer and the NoClip documentary from Bethesda contain some hints about the game world. In the NoClip documentary, there are even images and snippets from the official map visible. Fans used these as a basis to create their own map. Additionally, there were official maps of West Virginia and real locations. All of this together led to the release of a fan-made map of Fallout 76.
The community works together. The fans of Fallout have come together to collaboratively work on this project. They compile information and discuss it. This is how they decide which landmarks will be included in the map. The team determines which locations are likely to appear in the game. Based on the areas shown so far, images, and the map snippets, the team believes they have gained a very good insight into how Bethesda approaches incorporating key locations into the map. The places on the map include:
- Vault 76, located west of Morgantown
- The Vault-Tec University near the Monongahela River
- The Etam Earth Satellite Station
- The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs
- An abandoned amusement park
It’s all just speculation. Of course, it is unclear to what extent this fan map corresponds to the map that Bethesda is developing. Nevertheless, it is an interesting project that the fans have put together. When the game releases on November 14 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, we will know how accurate the fan map is.
