This week, the Carnival event returned to Fallout 76. However, it contained a major bug that made successful completion impossible. Bethesda temporarily disabled the event but immediately promised an extension.
What happened? On May 25, the Carnival event in Fallout 76 was supposed to take place. In this event, you assist robots with decorating, playing musical instruments, and experiencing other festive activities every hour.
The festival first appeared in February 2019 and was meant to chase away winter. However, due to the release of the new Wastelanders expansion, the event was somewhat postponed. Additionally, some adjustments were made.
However, these adjustments apparently led to problems. Instead of celebrating the popular event together, players currently have to wait for its return. Shortly after launch, the Carnival went offline again.
Major bug prevented event completion, Bethesda reacts
Where is the problem? To complete the Carnival event series, various tasks must be accomplished, including collecting animal guts within a specific timeframe.
What should actually be an easy task became a problem since no animals appeared.
Bethesda reacted and took the festival offline.
When will it return? The developers have stated that they have already found the bug and are testing the Carnival event internally again. A return is already planned for today.
According to a CM’s statement in the forums, it should start again at around 4:00 PM. As of the current status (6:30 PM), this is not yet the case.
Nevertheless, a quick return is likely. The event, which was originally supposed to stay in the game for a week until June 1, has already officially been extended until June 9. Additionally, free items in the Atomic Shop have been announced as compensation for June 2.
Fallout 76 and the bugs: Bethesda’s survival MMO initially struggled with many bugs and gained a bad reputation because of that, as well as due to the subscription system. However, things went significantly better with Wastelanders.
In late April 2020, there was a major bug with thieving NPCs that stole weapons from dead players, and now the bug with the Carnival event.
Nevertheless, the future of the game does not look bad. After all, Bethesda plans regular updates and a new season system in their roadmap for Fallout 76. The popular Steel Brotherhood will also return.
