After a long silence, the developers of Fallout 76 have made a comeback. Bethesda has released new patch notes on multiple platforms and promised improvements.
Bethesda addresses issues: In a post on the official site, Bethesda announced changes for the first weeks of December and spoke about communication with the community. The changes include many player requests and responses to the criticism from the early days.
Patch notes: Larger storage, much “Quality-of-Life”
What will be patched? One of the most important points Bethesda addresses is a larger storage capacity in Fallout 76. With the next patch on December 4, the size of storage is set to increase from 400 to 600 units.
In doing so, Bethesda responds to a fan request, which has existed since the beta of Fallout 76. The adjustment to 600 is only provisional. In the official post, it is stated that more capacity can be expected in the future.
What else does the first update bring? According to the announcement, the next patch will be released on December 4, 2018, and will introduce a series of changes that have been anticipated by fans.
- Bosses will now drop two to three items depending on difficulty.
- The Cryolator can now “cool,” “freeze,” and “ice” enemies. The duration of the effects has been shortened.
- Players who died in an overloaded state should now be able to respawn at the next map marker.
- A bug is being looked into that can cause players to get stuck in power armor.
Update from December 1: After the release of the patch notes for December 4, there are also numerous bug fixes and balance changes. The complete patch notes can be found on the official Bethesda website. The patch will be approximately 36 MB on PC and about 3 GB on PS4 and Xbox One.
However, Bethesda notes that implementation may also be delayed for various reasons.
The second update is coming shortly after: Bethesda has announced another update for December 11, 2018. This update mainly brings higher user comfort for Fallout 76:
- PC players will receive a “Push-to-Talk” feature as announced, a 21:9 support, and settings for field of view (FOV).
- After level 50, players can choose whether they want to reallocate a skill card or a S.P.E.C.I.A.L. point.
- If your C.A.M.P. spot is occupied upon logging in, you can choose to either relocate it or switch to a server where the spot is not occupied.
- The C.A.M.P. will receive a bulldozer function to remove obstacles and create flat spots.
How large will the patches be? According to Bethesda, the upcoming patches are expected to be smaller than the Day-One patch. After the first patch of Fallout 76 was huge, the developers prefer to change fewer things at once and release more patches instead.
Player criticism has an effect: According to Bethesda, the changes are reactions to feedback from players on Twitter and other social channels. Recently, Bethesda faced criticism for ignoring feedback from fans.
Bethesda admits that the quality of communication lately has not been good. Therefore, the info about the patch was also published on reddit, where it may reach more people.
