The B.E.T.A. of Fallout 76 is bigger than expected – and it’s probably coming later than hoped. However, the Beta brings advantages. An update to the FAQ regarding the B.E.T.A. has brought new insights: The Beta is the full game, and there will be no wipe.
B.E.T.A. is the whole game: In the new version of the FAQ regarding the B.E.T.A. (“Burden-Initial-Test-Application”) of Fallout 76, it states that the B.E.T.A. will include the complete game. Additionally, all game progress will carry over upon release.
Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. is a Headstart
The B.E.T.A. of Fallout 76 is no longer an actual beta test, but rather a headstart into the game for pre-order customers. Those who pre-order Fallout 76 and redeem the code will gain access to the B.E.T.A. and can start earlier than non-pre-order customers due to the transfer of progress.
Is it really still a beta? After the release of information, many players on reddit wondered whether the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. can still be called a beta test. In principle, yes, because adjustments and servers are still likely being tested.
However, the news revives an accusation that has been following the gaming industry for some time: Betas are no longer tests like they used to be to actually improve games, but are often just a way for some players to get early access.
Pre-ordering brings a head start
Unclear advantages: Since pre-order customers can roam earlier in Fallout 76, they can also start with the game’s content sooner. Since their progress is carried over when the game is released, they have a head start.
However, how this head start will affect gameplay is still unclear. It is not yet known whether fresh players will be thrown onto the same servers as seasoned veterans, or if the newcomers will face significant disadvantages.

When does the B.E.T.A. start? The only official date mentioned for the B.E.T.A. of Fallout 76 for PC, Xbox, and PS4 is October. Since the game saves will be carried over, it will likely take place shortly before the launch on November 14. We expect the last week of October.
However, there are indications that there will be a small beta before the B.E.T.A.
If you’re in the BETA, you’re in the BETA. If we do things before the BETA, you could get randomly selected to help with that too. But nobody gets shortchanged on access to the BETA. I have confirmed with him what I just said is accurate.
