A recently surfaced exploit in Fortnite allows players to increase their accuracy to 100% even with the unloved bloom mechanic on PS4 and Xbox One. Epic has not commented on this exploit yet.
What is bloom? The bloom mechanic has existed since the launch of Fortnite: Battle Royale and means that you don’t always hit where you aimed. The bloom mechanic introduces a random factor into every firefight. And that randomness can indeed decide the outcome of a battle.
This is how skilled players can “mitigate” the effects of the bloom mechanic: Most weapons, such as assault rifles, pistols, and submachine guns, have a function alongside the bloom mechanic called “initial precision.” It rewards calm players who can aim accurately.
When you aim with the weapon and do not move, your weapon is granted the initial precision. It ensures that your first shot hits exactly where you aimed.
The problem: Every subsequent shot fired may miss because the effects of the bloom mechanic take effect.
Bloom mechanic bypassed by exploit: This very moment, the onset of the bloom mechanic after the first shot, has now been eliminated using an exploit. It ensures that players always benefit from the initial precision, regardless of whether it’s the first, third, or fifth shot fired.
Note: We will not disclose how the exploit works here, as it can greatly trivialize battles on consoles. But it is frighteningly simple to execute.
Exploit with permanent initial precision – this is how the community reacts
The community is in agreement: This exploit creates PC-like conditions on consoles and should be promptly removed by Epic. Weapons with a slow rate of fire and high damage particularly benefit from this exploit.
What does Epic say about this issue? So far, the developer has not commented on this subject. However, the likelihood is high that this exploit will be fixed soon. The effects on gunplay on consoles are too extensive.
