In June, Diablo 4 will be released, and only a fraction of the game was visible in the open beta before. However, data miners have already extracted items that are supposed to come into the game later. Some of them look really powerful.
What are these items? The unique items, or “Uniques”, are equipment pieces that are essentially equivalent to old Legendary items. Diablo 4 introduces a new system for equipping yourself:
- “normal” Legendary items come with aspects that you can forge onto items to turn them into Legendary items
- certain aspects and “Uniques” are permanently bound to an item and are supposed to be special
The developers have already promised that Diablo 4 will have many more items at release than were visible in the beta. Data miners have already found some of these items.

Where does the info come from? On the website diablo4.cc, you will find a complete list of the found items. The data miners there have examined the data distributed with the open beta.
Since these are technically inaccessible data, it is possible that these are remnants that may not make it into the game. However, it may also be that you can find the items later. A few examples from the list are:
- The Butcher’s Cleaver (Axe): You cause enemies to flee on a critical hit
- The Grandfather (Two-Handed Sword): Critical hits deal more damage, the secondary stats on this item can be higher than on others
- Fists of Fate (Gloves): Attacks randomly deal between 1% – 300% additional damage
- Ring of Misfortune (Ring): You have a chance to lose your entire resource
According to current information, Uniques are tied to specific bosses. You will receive the Butcher’s Cleaver from the Butcher, the secret boss of Diablo 4. We do not yet know the exact source of all items.
Unique items from special bosses, but only later
When will I get the items? Uniques can only drop from World Tier 3 and higher. In the beta, only World Tier 2 was possible. To reach higher difficulties, you need to defeat various world bosses.
Higher tiers make enemies tougher, but reward you with more experience, gold, and better items. Therefore, it is worth playing on the higher difficulties as soon as your equipment is sufficient and you can reliably defeat enemies and bosses.
Many of the Uniques will likely be available in the endgame. What exactly you will find there will be explained by the developers in April:
