Since April 2, the PTR for Diablo 4 has been live with the content of Season 4. Experts are testing the individual features and sharing their impressions with the community. You can find out how the changes have been received so far here on MeinMMO.
The PTR (Public Test Realm) went live on the evening of April 2 and brought a huge update. Numerous experts tested the features live on Twitch, including wudijo and Raxxanterax. Both are Diablo experts and write build guides for maxroll.gg.
- wudijo comes from Germany, is one of the largest Twitch streamers for Diablo 4, and one of the experts from maxroll.gg, one of the most important websites for Diablo. He defeated Uber Lilith with a single attack, because he was wearing the right pants.
- Raxxanterax is one of the most well-known ARPG players worldwide, a prominent figure on Twitch, and has been active in Diablo for years. His expertise helps thousands of players in Diablo 4. However, the expert is also keen to be critical – especially regarding Season 3.
Both experts logged into the PTR for Diablo 4 immediately at the start, created characters, and tested the features. And apparently, the changes are being received quite well – there are suggestions for improvement as well.
Currently, Season 3 is still running outside of the PTR in Diablo 4:
“Shako will be garbage”
How are the changes being received? In Season 4, two crafting options are added that you can use at the blacksmith. wudijo tests the features in his stream and notes that the affixes become quite strong due to the new crafting.
At the Occultist, he tests the new system and clicks through the affixes for gloves. It is possible to get multiple ranks for base and core skills. These can then be further increased.
He calculates the possibilities with a calculator and says:
This means you can get thirteen ranks on your core skill. That’s crazy. Damn. So if you apply this three times to a larger affix, you can get thirteen ranks. Who needs a Shako. Shako will be garbage (laughs).

In response to the remark, that Shako also provides damage reduction, wudijo says he has not seen an affix with that value on the PTR yet. Apparently, that is no longer necessary.
When the streamer is asked for his first impression, he says: “Everything is OP.” He finds the ability to imprint affixes from the codex onto items beneficial. He adds, “This will be a nice new world.”
“Give us materials instead of yellow items”
His colleague Raxxanterax tests the update in detail on his livestream on Twitch and says the game is already “much better” with the changes. Later, he states that if the seasonal theme is good, it will be “by far the best season.”
This is what he says about the individual features:
- The Pit: The new endgame activity is more fun for him than Nightmare Dungeons – there are no tasks to complete and there are direct portals to the next level.
- The “new” Hellflodes: The mechanics of rising threat and the new small events make it fun. For example, a giant worm spits out a mob of enemies.
- Codex of Power: With Season 4, the affixes go into the Codex of Power and no longer clog inventory and chests. Here, everything seems to be working well, says Raxxanterax. Thus, the obols are also worth it in the endgame; you can gamble affixes and fill the codex.
- Loot: It is now much easier to figure out what you can use and what you cannot. Legendary affixes can drop in a “larger” version that is 1.5 times as strong. According to Raxxanterax, this is the “top tier” loot needed in the endgame. It should be better identifiable, preferably already as a drop, but especially in the inventory.
What other improvement suggestions does he have? He sees it critically that yellow items drop in the Pit, even though they are not very useful on World Tier 4 since they only have two affixes. These two affixes cannot be supplemented by additional ones.
Thus, you only need the materials from disassembling the items, so they should just drop materials directly. In his opinion, there are still too many items dropping in general. His continued wish is for a loot filter.
However, the team currently does not have a loot filter planned, they stated in the last “Campfire Chat” livestream. They want to figure out how the changes are received first – and extended Season 3.
