Blizzard is currently testing the new features of Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred on the PTR of Diablo 4. Numerous experts are here looking for things that need improvement. One apparently found something that definitely needs some tweaking.
What kind of build is this?
- The “AFK Barbarian” works exactly as it sounds: you stand around in the area and kill enemies without even pressing a button.
- The build is possible due to the new runewords from Season 6, which can expand and change skills.
- The expert Rob demonstrates how the build works and takes down both the tormented Lord Zir on Torment 4 and Lilith, who is too tough even for other OP builds – and does so in seconds.
This is how the AFK Barbarian works: Essentially, the damage from the AFK Barbarian comes from the dust devils that have been providing strong builds for the Barbarian for some time now. Instead of generating them through Whirlwind and similar skills, they come from a runeword and a new legendary Paragon node in this build:
- The legendary Paragon node “Force of Nature” ensures that earthquakes have a 75% chance to create a dust devil.
- The runeword LithTec ensures that you create an earthquake at your feet when you stand still for one second.
- The Aspect of Rage Control ensures that you become a Berserker when you have more than 55 rage.
Additionally, there are some effects like the chance to double the effect of earthquakes and mythical items that provide more damage – such as the grandfather. The most important aspect for the build is to maximize damage on the dust devils.
Rob shows in his video how he takes down Lilith, Lord Zir, and the Pit at level 100 without even touching the keyboard. He says that it goes even faster if he uses his skills and shows how the beast in the ice dies in less than half a second.
Blizzard is addressing feedback; an OP strategy is already gone
It is still uncertain whether the build will make it into the final release of Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred. Blizzard has already implemented a lot of player feedback during previous tests and has sometimes completely revamped features.
It is already known, for example, that a completely broken leveling method will be fixed. The professional player Raxxanterax managed to reach the maximum level within 20 minutes solely through waypoints. This will no longer be possible in Vessel of Hatred.
With the new season and expansion come a lot of changes that address a lot of past criticism. For example, the difficulty levels will be adjusted, even though experts are not yet convinced of that.
In addition, there will be new features such as runes, as well as new skills for all classes and the new class of Spirit Born for owners of Vessel of Hatred.
