Destiny 2 is about to embark on its new saga and it especially needs new Exotics. Some streamers have already had the chance to test them before the release, and there is one weapon that particularly stands out.
Which weapon is being talked about? It is the Third Iteration, a scout rifle with the Void element. The rifle fires three projectiles when firing from the hip but then condenses the spread into a single powerful shot when aiming down sights.
The weapon was tested by YouTubers and invited guests at Bungie, just like other Exotics. For Aztecross, a well-known expert on Destiny 2, it quickly became clear how powerful the weapon could be as it reminded him of a previous meta in PvP, which no one will forget anytime soon.
PvP could be plagued again
Why is the weapon so strong? The weapon has many features that make it exciting in both PvE and PvP. When players make a focused shot while aiming down sights, your opponent is marked. Marked opponents take much more damage from your weapon than unmarked opponents. This already sounds like a mix between the Exotics “Divinity” and “Zer0s+1”.
However, the true strength, as discovered by Aztecross (via youtube.com), probably lies in PvP. The weapon can make you invisible and grant the “True Sight” effect when you finish off opponents with a precision hit or defeat them as marked enemies.
Invisibility is generally a problem in PvP because many Hunters use this strategy with their shotguns for kills. When combined with True Sight, you can wander through the map unnoticed and see through walls to know where your enemies are located.
For Aztecross, this comes close to the dominant times with the One-Eyed Mask and Titans. Nowhere was safe when Titans marked you, as they could see through walls and always received an overshield after a kill.
It remains to be seen how dominant the weapon will really be, as it is a scout rifle. This weapon type has its own playstyle, and not every PvP player wants to fight from a distance all the time.
Which Exotics were also presented? In addition to the scout rifle, a piece of armor for each class and a hand cannon were also introduced:
- Hand cannon “Graviton Spike”
- Has an Arc and Stasis fire mode
- Armored gloves “Melas Panoplia” – For Titans
- Allows you to retrieve your hammer and enhances it – Like Thor with his hammer
- Armored gloves “Eunoia” – For Warlocks
- Enhances your Hellion projectiles to deal more damage the further they fly.
- Chest armor “Moirai” – For Hunters
- You can detonate a tangle with your Strand melee. When your melee returns to you, you also gain a tangle in your hands.
